Blue Ridge Mountains

Early spring in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Passed a few people the first two miles in then didn't see another person for the rest of the day.

I took my wife and kids horse riding a couple weekends back. They bring out the horses for the kids...regular looking brown horses, seems pretty normal....they brought this horse out and point to me.."you get this one..."
A black Percheron....
Felt like I was riding a Tiger tank....what a beast. And I liked him.

Do you always have your hair that unkempt or it is because you are camping?

I always strive for the ragged wild look ...... keeps the two legged creatures on the mountain from getting too friendly. If it makes you feel any better, I still have all my teeth, but only bite when provoked.

Or were you referring to the horse?

Damn do I envy you.

I'm in Charlotte, but dream of the day that I can get some land and retire to the mountains. . .

I can be as deep as want in the Georgia mountains in 45 minutes and if veer a tad east when leave the house in Highlands NC in 90 minutes. All that and still live close enough to civilization have good doctors just minutes from the house. I have my 70 acres had planned to retire on for sale as its too far from medical care and much as wife and I need to see the doctors now can't imagine driving from the farm in the hills to civilization whenever we have an appointment. At least the Ponderosa is in part of county all the development stops a couple miles away and people around us are not selling their multigenerational homes and farms. Yet....

They are without question a beautiful part of the world. I just wish I would have had more time to explore them when I visited !!

That looks just like where I grew up!!!!

Of course now, prefer my mountains clear of vegetation, warm in winters, dry most days, no bugs big enough to haul your ass off, and little to zero rust building up in less than 30 minutes.

Did I mention, mother nature loves to water that area,,,,about everyday you need to do anything outside????
