SAIGA 12 TACTICAL LIGHT

I need a good LED light hopefully that does not use a rail. Rechargable while on the gun would be nice. Adjustable beam that won't change while shooting would be nice. If the same kind would work on a Winchester 1200 it would be nice.

The primary intended use is for in the house, less than 50 ft. secondary use in the yard no more than 100 ft. Hopefully less than $100.

You want fries with that?

I think you figured out just enough required criteria to pretty much discount every light I've seen!

sorry I'm not much help.

It would seem thar way, I have seen a clamp that attaches any 1" flashlight onto the barrel. I might have to be the first one to try one.

Alright I give up. What is a good way to mount a light on an un-modified Saiga 12 ?

Dude, just get one of those polymer hand guards with the three rails molded into the front. Works great and runs in the $30 range IIRC.

Thanks, Just exactly what I need. Where might one be located? I can only find quadrails.

Maybe so, I saw a couple listed on the boards for 30 or so, new must be in the $60 range.

I have the exact foreguard that Drtrumpet posted.
I love it.

I have a LED flashlight mounted to the foreguard using one of the El Cleapo scope rings sold at wally world.

I mounted the flashlight just infront of where my hand grips the foreguard and use my thumb to hit the tail cap clicker. Very convenient. My flash light has high, low, and strobe modes. My shotgun only has Muzzle Flash mode...

This is the vender I usually go to for S-12 accessories

As for your flashlight needs; the only thing killing you is the adjustable beam, otherwise you could go to Lowes Hardware and grab a $30 LED flashlight that'll blind the shit out of anyone you point it at.

In the world of flashlights you reach a certain point where you get into the weird batteries. I bit the bullet and got into the 18650 batteries/flashlights and never looked back. You can't buy replacements for them at a gas station but I only use these flashlights at home, so I'm OK with it.

Here are some flashlights to consider...
http://www.monsterflashlight.com/?gc...FQKEnQodohIAdQ

I am going to order this guy when my fun budget allows for it.

Bear in mind that I have a 190 lumen Cree3 LED and I think it is ridiculous bright. When I shine the light on our indoor walls from 10 feet away it is uncomfortable to my eyes and that's just the amount of light that gets reflected off the walls.
These new LED lights really will mess up someones eyes when you light them up and that strobe function is no joke.

One last thing; if you just want to put a flashlight on your S-12 and don't want to do a full on conversion right now, I suggest you look at having someone mill a flat spot on your stock guard, add a short section of picatinny rail and call it a day.
Having one of the cool go-faster foreguards on an otherwise un-converted S-12 would look gay. Just saying...

I really appreciate that sir, at $10 that is something to consider, this is a tool, not a beauty contestant.

Form over function!

Have you seen the conversions where the owner went all out with nice wood stocks and foreguards? They look very nice but that's more than I want to spend on my S-12.

Now, a bayonet mount is functional so that's still OK with me...

If it cost more than the gun to hell with it. I got a late start, still working on tomatoes, radios, pvc, the wife etc. I'm too old for bayonets, just do reloading drills.

There does not seem to be enough room on the hand guard for my hand and a light. As bad as I hate it I might have to use a barrel mount.

try the utg ak side rail scope mount. it has 1913 rails on the top and the side. a light could be mounted on the left side of the mount.

That foreguard has an extended length to accommodate a light, a little pricey at $74, but one on the way.

Forearm

Got this forearm for $30 at Knob Creek a few years ago. Seen them everywhere but this was the best price I could find. The rails attach left, right, or bottom with bolts.

You can find short (1-2 in) sections of rail that are designed to clamp onto your barrel. You can attach an affordable Streamlight TLR or other light right to that and get a pressure plate if desired.

I got the foreguard Drtrumpet has pictured and a Streamlight TRL1s. Probably not the best setup but I am well satisfied with it. 160 lumens, I saw one (diferent brand) at Walmart today that said 190 w-strobe at half the price.

I used a magpul rail ($10?) and put a TLR1 ($100?) on it. If I was to do it again I probably would use this:
http://www.shiningbeam.com/servlet/t...Neutral/Detail
MAYBE with this:
http://www.shiningbeam.com/servlet/t...tch-for/Detail
rather than the TLR1.

The light takes 18650 cells and I would have to buy a charger for them ... but it would still be cheaper than the TLR1. It throws more lumens and is also known to be a decent P60 host. It would be heavier. But 18650 vs CR123 would be worth it!

(I do not work for, or have interest in ShiningBeam, but I have ordered from them before and wilil again.)
