Indian 1A1 Ishapore Variant

This is my Indian lA1 Ishapore FAL clone. I have tracked down as many original Indian parts as possible and included photos of most. The Indian 1A1 is a hybrid of sorts, using an FAL/SLR lower using an FAL type stock and an SLR pistol grip. The upper and front end are all SLR. For this build I used a Coonan British cut receiver. The Indians have some parts that are easily identifiable as Ishapore. One thing you will notice is they marked everything, sometimes numerous times. There are marks upon marks on some of the parts. Another unique characteristic is the grip has a screw running crosswise and the handguards also have a screw on the inside attaching the metal ends to the wooden handguards. These screws are captured in the photos. The individual parts of the Indians are almost always rough, appearing unfinished. That is another dead giveaway that the parts you are looking at are Indian vs. British or Australian manufacture. Building an Indian is a labor of love. It took me almost 10 years to gather all of the original parts to build my Jasmine. So if you have undertaken this odyssey please post photos of your Indians here.

Edited for transitioning to photobucket as Uploadly went out of business evidently. Sucks as I really liked their service. My original photos wiil be showing up soon.

Very nice rifle. Just starting to collect Indian parts for my build and I think it will be a very long process. Do see many Indian parts in the MP. Thank you for posting. Let me know if you have any left over spare Indian parts available.

I see that you bought the little stash from Adam. That was a good buy. I do have some parts available for sale. I think I have a carrier, mag release, and some other ones. I will check tomorrow after work if you are seriously interested.

It doesn't look authentic. You need to take all the non-Indian parts off and put them in a cement mixer with a couple shovelfuls of crushed rock for about an hour or so then reassemble.

LOL, actually agree about the receiver. I does look to new and nice. Just for the record 922r parts aren't visible .........otherwise every other part is an original Indian.

You can post the pics I sent you, Huss. They aren't great but the lighting in yours is kindof poor as well.

Of course, I'd have a whole India section in the Reference and Data collection, but Jen won't give me access. Heck, she won't fix her bad DNS entry either so I can't receive any @FalFiles e-mail.

I don't think she gives a shit about the files anymore. We go through this every couple years. There's temporary access to great reference material, and then it's gone. I currently have a larger FAL Reference and Data collection on my home computer than the FalFiles has. And that's sad.

I think that having the images load automatically is tedious.

It means we have to wait for 30+ images to load to see a new post. It would be great if we could have thumbnails, but that's a site software issue. I think perhaps a title and link would be better. It would also save massively on bandwidth.

Took five seconds here, via sat net.

Nice rifle, Huss. Need to get that beauty out in the upcoming snow for some natural light pics. Hope to see it in person someday.

My first attempt at pics. This one was not built by me, but I love it anyway.

Look at the ridges or slots on the side. Curved vs square
