Taylor claims the rifle came w/ the Australian HG installed. Obviously, someone supplied some license when sending him one. We ALL know (Taylor can stick to training) the OzTrayLeahn HG is unique inthe world.

Enjoy!

Note this:
"Without a single exception, functional problems with the FAL were, in his (the Israeli mil contact) opinion, the result of either substandard or non-existent maintenance on the part of Israelu personnel. In other words, the gun worked fine as long as routine maintenance was performed....."

He opines the FAL has the better trigger of the two, and is quite battle-worthy. "Crisp" is how he describes it. But the Galil trigger "isn't all that deficient".

Thanks for sharing these awesome pictures. I have a question. What is the barrel lenght of FAL para. I'd like to know the millimeter measurement.

In inch, I have seen them range from 16" to 18". What is the original factory barrel length? Thanks again.

FN 50.63 has 18" barrel and combo device - which adds about 1.5".

Thanks to Galt for sending me the set. I used to have the original mag issue.

There are TWO 50-63 barrel lengths:
458mm

and

436mm

The 'super-shorty' was on the Belgian M3 first, and had no bipod ring on the barrel, IIRC.

Thanks, Ted, for a marvelous trip down memory lane. Used to have most of the early SWAT mags, always enjoyed Taylor despite later catching him in a few gross errors. ( Like I haven't made worse ) Narrowed down the collection to only FAL related issues, eventually they disappeared in one move or another. Some fond memories of the beginning yearts of my FAL affliction Thanks again

Swat article

Boy did I enjoy that. Have a lot of respect for the galil. But I have more Fals. Love em all and don't shoot them enought. The .223 galil is like the .223 sar 4800 no recoil but the .308 just feel like they mean business when you are shooting them. Shot the .308 galil with one hand with the stock folded. It balances. Did not see that in the article. Its harder to do with a long barrel paratrooper (conversion)FAL.

This entire set came from DAVESRB........BUT the Pistol grip could be hand made by BLUE MONSTER! I am NOT sure where the HG's originated from...... I think I drooled on them so many times DAVESRB finally gave in to me

Shot both!

I was very impressed with the Galill ar in .223. Good sights, total reliability and good accuracy even with low quality ammo!

Para FAL in 308 also had excellent accuracy but was much more expensive to shoot.

If I could find an accurate and reliable Galill clone with a chrome lined barrel and the ability to use a mag adopter for M-16 mags, I would love to have one.

The CNC Warrior receivers are apparently very high quality with some nice clone builds out there, otherwise, I have always stuck to original IMI Galils. I was fortunate to buy before things got so crazy expensive. And avoid the Blackthorne AR mag adapters, they are total crap. The U/A mag adaptors are really nice and very much worth the purchase IMO.

Sounds like an option. Questions remain where I could find a serviceable, Galill parts kit, chrome lined barrel and if I were able to get a CNC warrior receiver...Id be thinking about doing a Build!!!

You really don't want to be seen with those "black" rifles according to Sterling, the owner of the Clippers.

You should send them to me.

Just posted this over in the Uzitalk forums and thought I'd share here.

The article is about the Galil, but the last two pages have a comparison of 6 of the late 80s/early 90s battle rifles including the FAL, G3, AK, etc.
