I'm down for dinner.

I don't have any purple polish though I was going to go red white & blue this time around.

Think back a few weeks. I think you had them convinced to wear short shorts. Now you have progressed to make up and girly things.

OMG, has the world gone mad!!!

You've already got Bryan thinking about hair ribbons. I thought you'd get some guys carrying a Garand trying to keep up with your awesomeness on that front. But as usual, instead of realizing the key to life lies within 30-06 and the "greatest battle implement ever devised", they're distracted by hair bows and fingernail painting.

If that doesn't sum up the state of today's society, then I don't know what does.

Funny story: I have the opposite problem as Kelly when it comes to shorts. Normal guys' shorts come down past my knee, so when I found a pair with a 6" inseam I snatched them up (thinking ahead to water crossings in September). They looked frighteningly like Rhodesian nut-huggers on the rack, but when I tried them on they looked like normal shorts on me. Go figure.

Kelly talked me into short shorts,

Man that痴 how I feel. I知 ready. My minds right. I致e worked up my stamina and endurance better than it has been in 20 years. Now as long as nothing breaks, strains, sprains, plugs up, herniates or stops beating, I should be good to go.

Well, the heat index is only supposed to be 110 both days, so there's that.

I ran in Pecos one year with a Garand and it was 118F. (real temp, no BS)

It still didn't feel as hot as 2015 in Pawnee. That road being below the wind, and throw in some humidity....it's just brutal.

I remember that. The asphalt everywhere was soft.

It was much nicer on Saturday.

It rained on the way home.

I am so jealous. Both for the steak eating and for the misery that's coming. I'm with you in spirit - now go and kill this thing.

Ok, this year i defeated my nemesis. The Oklahoma heat.

He was off his game on Saturday and i took full advantage.

It was a great day for a 15K run. It started with a brief rain in Pawnee. There was cloud cover all day and it took until after noon to reach the 90's. And i got an 0856 start time. I was off the course just after 1300.

It was brutal for the RO's that fan on Friday. Especially those that ran the 15K.

So, i had all four cylinders firing (Pistol, Rifle, Physical, Environmental.) Though it was a little rough at times.

The 5K.

I ran the FAL. I carried 77 round.

The first two stages i struggled. Rifle in the woods and the dueling tree.

Then stages 3.4,and 5 i seemed to hit my stride.

Nothing blazing, but not to bad.

Ran a good portion of the course and finished in 77 minutes. Not one wait time.

The score didn't seem to reflect how well i thought i did. Finished 26 out of 78. But no big.

The 10K

We got 15 minutes to reload and refresh.

I changed my socks and boots. Put the beast away and grabbed the AR.

I had 90 rounds for the rifle and grabbed 7 pistol mags and one in the pistol. I knew i was going to need them.

Sucked down a Gatorade, some almonds and about a quarter of a watermelon. Grabbed an extra Gatorade and a liter of coconut water. Place them in my back pockets

Took a pee and was on my way with a minute to spare. We did not have recheck in.

I walked most all the 10K. Just being happy to finish. I did jog from the bonus 2 stage to the finish line. Finished in about 143 minutes. And 34 out 67.

Did the bonus 1 stage ok.

But again struggled with stage 1 and 2. I shot 4 and half mags at the dueling tree but did clear it. I was shaking pretty bad on the final target.

I was thankful for grabbing 7 mags. Because i finished the course with 3 rounds.

After stage 2, i seemed to hit my stride again. Clearing 3,4,5, and the bonus 2 about the same or a little better than the 5K.

The 15K

I finished right in the middle of the pack. 12 out 23, Pretty consistent. 13 on the run and 12 on the shooting.

Not to shabby for an old man. I'll take it.

Final Thoughts

A personal best at Pawnee, no DNF's. A first since i started going.

Also, no major cramps. It was just like the beginnings of cramps. After downing just about everything after stage 3. Half way back on the road i stopped having any issues. And no hand cramps on the way home.

My feet took a beating and i got two good size sore spots. This was expected. My legs and shoulders are sore. But not to bad.

I liked running with just a chest rig and no belt.

I'm pleased with my workout routine for this run. Maybe just intensify it a little.

Man, what a fun weekend!

I'm always amazed at how far folks travel to suffer in Oklahoma. This year Lurker did a rain dance or something and the weather was unbelievably decent on Saturday.

Thanks to everyone for making this such a fun and safe event. Next party is January 19th, 2019. Will this be the one we actually have some winter?

That was a TON OF FUN like always Usually I stay in Tulsa and drive to the RNG, but this time I stayed up in Pawnee, much better that way! It was cool being at the same place as my friends, and walking over to Click's was convenient.

Everyone I know did awesome...improved in major ways since last time. I think we are starting to get the hang of this.

I did the 5k in juggernaut attire and then ditched the plates and helmet for the 10k. I finished 3/10 in 5k Juggernaut and 5/23 in the 15k overall. I was pretty stoked about the 15k placing since I had disadvantaged myself by doing the 5k in juggernaut.

It was hot AF on RO day. Unrelenting sun. It was fine though, I am used to the heat from training in it all summer. I was happy with how I did. I really couldn't have pushed much harder. There is always more I can do at home running and shooting wise but I thought I made the best of the time that I have available. I was edging on heat exhaustion at the end of the second loop. I would get goosebumps and a little dizzy so I would back off some. But I never got fully sick.

I didn't DNF anything. I was really happy with the long range stage, I only had one make up shot between both loops. It was the first time I was holding instead of dialing in competition (wow, big girl!!!). My rifle is ugly as hell but ran flawless. See Louis, poly lowers aren't so bad

I need to start turning up the heat on the shooting portion. I have the same problem I had in 3 gun, I am just too deliberate and cautious. I came back with plenty of ammo. I need to take more risks and move faster.

I am super happy ditching the thigh holster for the belt mounted one. Soooo much better weight distribution.

My Crye JPC plate carrier was awesome. Since I was constantly jerking mags from it and slinging/unslinging it moved around a lot, but no matter what position it fell in, it was super comfortable.

I wore the helmet for the whole 4 miles and never even noticed it. I attribute this to riding horses for 20 years, always with a helmet, lol.

It is so good to see all of my RNG friends. I especially love seeing Al. I can tell that my unbridled enthusiasm makes him cringe, so I make sure to skip up to him and give him a big hug. Seriously though, him & Dan put on an awesome match!!

Lots of ladies this time around. I RO'd stage 4 with Heather and Anita and we had a blast all day long. I really love RO'ing because I feel like I learn so much about smarter ways to shoot. I like checking out everyone's gear too.

I had to laugh at Jimmy. He brings me my score sheet like he is doing me a favor (so I don't have to wait in line). He can barely contain his giggling as he says, DID YOU SEE THE PLACEMENTS???? He just wanted to point out that he beat me in the 10k by one slot

Click's was awesome btw. I think I surprised some people by how much I can eat. LOL.

I honestly didn't realize it until we were both looking at your sheets together. Does not matter at all though. You ran a 5K with plates/helmet before your 10K and I only ran the 10K (light weight too). If you had run your 10K fresh, you would have smoked me SparkPlug!!!!

MMMMM HMMM!! I'm just kidding you anyway. You worked your ass off and put down a super solid run - and your placings at each stage were awesome.

What does that even mean?? You ARE at our level. No DNF's and a respectable run time. I don't see much difference there pal. You even did it on hard mode with the heavy FAL/ammo.

What does that even mean?? To me, finishing in y'alls percentile.

But you're right. Respectable run. And after looking at the numbers. Just need to work on my shooting.

My goal will be a 10% improvement in my run time.

And 25% improvement in my shooting. Specifically my pistol.(Dueling tree)
