Can anyone here tell me what Turk 8mm is worth??

Guys I have about 1200 rounds of this ammo left along with a nice M38,I'm thinking about selling the rifle & ammo as a package deal just to thin the heard.
Can anyone here tell me what the ammo is worth?
Thanks,Mick.

Not sure but some seem to prefer the light flat base turk over Ss.
Wild guess would be .25 per.

I just bought some Turk in the MP for $25/bando, or 70 rounds. That's .35/rd.

Turk used to be about $.03 per round. No longer!!!

If it is the silver bullet 8mm then it is hot MG ammo and worth more than the copper bullets.

I've got a similar amount of Turk, and a Yugo Mauser I've been thinking of getting rid of. Can't see the sights anymore.

Got about 1,000 rds with the silver bullet, and about 500 with the copper.

Any of you Georgia guys need any of that can PM me.

No, no, no...the silver bullets were packed on strippers and bandoliers just like the copper bullets...FOR RIFLE USE,

The copper jacket stuff is 1950s dates, it came after all the nickle clad steel jacket stuff of the 1930s and 40s.

Just FYI "hot MG ammo" is pretty much a myth. There is no sense in loading MG ammo to a higher pressure level than a round is originally designed.

I agree. The Turkish 8x57 is a copy of what teh Germans were using in WWI.

I do know that Turk ammo clocks in at 2900+ fps.

I have both the copper and cupro nickel jacket stuff.

I clocked some of it at just over 3,000. Them Turks musta figured that if they were gonna shoot people, they wanted to shoot 'em hard.

Or they had shoulders made of carbon steel. One bando shot in my Turk leaves me not wanting to shoot more.

I'm a recoil pig. One of my best days was shooting up 150 .458 mag handloads in testing and practice. The trick is to stay away from the bench.

The silver bullets were indeed packed on strippers and bandoliers.

We bought that Turk stuff to feed the MG42. One day we opened a case of silver tipped, after firing the last of the copper rounds in another case. The cycle rate jumped probably a hundred or more a minute. It was hotter than the copper rounds.

Turk 8mm I saw was either copper jacket,or cupronickel jacket. Never saw any color coded at the tips.

Hotter?.... maybe, or just loaded with a slower burning powder that puts higher pressure gas into the muzzle booster.

You're an interesting fellow.

I wouldn't mind the occasional correspondence, if you can put up with me.
