Anti-poacher para rifles

Lately Ive got the urge to build a clone of the anti poacher rifles. Green and all. Ive never owned a para before. I was going to start with a DSA type 2. I did a search and found a build someone else did. Where are the best places to source para parts?

I've got one of the all green DSA T2 "Game Rangers" from several years back. Mine was a custom shop special order. I actually wanted it nose cut with the folder but at the time, DSA wanted an additional $500 plus, on top of the $1500 custom shop price tag, so I just went standard lower. I'm sure you could build some type of anti-poacher clone for around $1500. I never really understood why DSA didn't agressively market the anti poacher type para back when the whole Save the Rhino craze was going. Perhaps a future idea for when the Israeli parts/trend plays out.

I have the long range para sights on website.

I have 17.2" IMBEL kits on site, but they are missing bolts.

There is a member here with DSA dealers pricing that sells some (not all) para stuff for under DSA direct pricing. I know I got a stock from him, but there were other parts he could not get. A search through the MP for him should find you some bargains on some para stuff ARS does not offer.

BTW - I am on a similar "anti-poacher" clone kick, but it is on the back burner and moving slow.

Here is a bit of inspiration with photos for you though

That is exactly why I wanted a para. This will be the project I work on when the gun arrives!

The Aimpoint scope will be your next big cost as also it will be for me (around $400-$450).

I have been watching FS adds on different forums. If a decently priced used one comes around, I will snag it.

Maybe the rear sight is from 50 years ago?

Used mil-surplus Aimpoint Comps and M2s can be found for under $250, well worn examples cheaper.... which would be fitting for the build.

Army qualifies out to 300 meters with the Aimpoint. Of course, that is with a 14.5” barreled AR. I’d wager that someone trained with the Aimpoint could take out a man sized target beyond that distance with the FAL (and protect themselves from large game if necessary).

I wouldn’t suspect the anti-poachers are sniping bad guys multiple hundred yards?

If you run across any 250$ versions please let me know!.

I can easily engage steel at 500 yards with my 300blk w/aimpoint pro.

Just watch eBay. They pop and go frequently.

If, enough were interested, we'd do another run of the game rangers. You guys are right, we didn't market them properly. It took us a long time to sell the original production run but perhaps a batch of 20 or so could be in order.

I think there would be some interest. I remember the pictures of the PARA models that went to one of the Wildlife Refuge Groups in Africa. From what I remember they looked like 16 inch models with NCHC T2 uppers, complete with railed top cover and a optic of some type. Perhaps a back story on these would maybe generate interest, or even take a poll here on this site. Just a suggestion(s).

I think there is a market.

That picture is the reason I bought a para.

I have most everything here to build my own now but a good para carrier.

If I buy a new DSA para carrier, will it fit inside my DSA cover and work in an Imbel GL receiver?

That's the old picture I remember from the time I ordered the "Game Ranger". Mine looks like the fixed stock 18"model. I remember several other pics, one showed riFALs in the rack, assuming bound for Anti-Poaching units in Africa, all green minus the metal on the handguards, and another pic of the short barreled ones with non-railed top cover and folding stock with black handguards like the ones pictured above. Was never able to get any information from DSA on the exact configuration or whom the end users were, which I can understand for confidentiality reasons. I am curious why all the green, but with black handguards, and any other technical info on these types made by DSA, especially receiver crest engravings. Perhaps our DSA_REP can elaborate?

I just bought a DSA Para 16" model for an anti-poaching para clone. Would love to get a hold of some green furniture for it in the future. Maybe engrave the rhino someday. It's a great looking rifle.

Here, NOS mil-surp.
http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/falparatro...arriernew.aspx

You will also need para springs. Check with Milsurpmonkey or countershot here on the files. Maybe Mark has the same spring sets for sale.

That carrier from Sarco is what I have now, along with Milsurpmonkey springs.

They do not work with the Sarco (Argy?) plain top cover.

I have since bought a DSA railed cover but have not yet tried it with the Sarco carrier.

It may be all good now the next time I get back to it with this combination, but my frustration with trying to gather compatible components for a simple truck gun build has me still looking at all options

Hey Mike if your Argy para carrier isn't satisfactory, hit me up. I've got a DSA para carrier you can try.

A legit pic of dead poachers dispatched by anti poachers using DSA rifles would boost sales tremendously. Of course all three components would need to be in the pic.

We can do a fixed or para version for 2k. It'll be a on-off so the cost reflects paint, engraving etc. I will also do them on the type 2's with our serial and imprint done in the magwell. 6-8 week production time of course.

For "2K" I want to see you post pictures of a completed sample. Also a detail picture showing correct barrel chamber chamfer which I would hope by now has been corrected.
