I too am curious what sling they issued in 50s and 60s.

Anyone carry any of the early 50, 60, 70s webbing for them?

This question has come up a few times here and the answer is always the same. Nobody knows for certain.
There's photo evidence that K98 leather were used or later, possibly StG. I used a K98 replica on my rifle, looks the part.

There's no provision for a bipod on the barrel of the original or the barrel on this rifle, just like the original. Also believe they don't offer a non-bipod cut handguard so that's why they're sending the bipod cut.

And that's a product I think DSA should make. A non-bipod cut US handguard of the same quality glass-filled nylon as their bipod cut version. I think that would be more popular than duplicating an existing part out of Titanium.

i'm confused---what are you saying? I understand they are including a set of their us made furniture with a rifle order--I get that part from the ad--If your saying that since the handguard is bipod cut, the rifle will take a bipod you're incorrect--barrel also needs to be bipod cut also.

I suspect the reason they are including the US handguard, is that without it, the rifle is not 922 compliant. So they are manufacturing and shipping rifles that are a violation of Federal law, but including with it, something that might make them compliant - although as sold they are not.

With no muzzle device, you need 6 US parts

DSA receiver
DSA barrel
US hammer/trigger/sear? I don't think so. at 5:29 in this video, you can see it's an FN stamped trigger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0V9qRQvVS8
piston?

So DSA Rep - what 922 compliant parts are in the rifle, as sold?

My sentiments exactly---not that I care either way but the 922 thing could rear up it's ugly ass any time the ATF decides they're not overworked with other problems or want to create problems for someone not in compliance

I suspect the rifle has DSA receiver, DSA piston, DSA pistol grip, plus USA barrel. I bet the magazines they ship with the rifle have their follower and floor plate, which technically limits magazines you can use if you don’t want to risk issues with Uncle Sam.

If the version with the muzzle device, it must be one of theirs. However, this is just my SWAG. I don’t have one of their rifles because I prefer to have mine built by you so I don’t have issues with guessing what went into it and who put it together.

With the threaded muzzle, it needs 7

1. U.S. Manufactured Barrel
2. Belgian Style Combo Device Flash Hider Installed
3. Receiver
4. New U.S. Manufactured Metric Pistol Grip
5 & 6 20 Round Magazine Body with New U.S. Follower & Floor Plate

What's #7? Piston?

Irrelevant to the law: Included but not installed. U.S. Made Handguard Set & Buttstock.

Yes that is what I see.

"New U.S. Made Israeli Length Gas Piston"

If they forget to include the stock and handguard like above everybody should still be covered with 7.

Since I live in "Calirado" I get a 10 round mag.

Duh, I missed it, sorry. There's #7.

I just don't get the incentive to include free US parts that are (at least with the butt stock) incompatible with the wood stock sling mount. Made me suspicious.

If there are issues than maybe a good thing these Rifles are not in our hands now. Let DSA fix any issues befor they ship.

Pappy, when was your order placed? Still patient for dsa, but curious how long you waited and how much longer I will.

Did find the entire 1960's era tan canvas combat webbing for it. Pumped. Now just need to find a similar canvas high power holster for it.

My credit card was charged immediately when I ordered mine back in December.

I'd rather them get them built well and right rather than fast, as I thought it.

So, I'm happy to wait.

Did the order page specifically state that it would take more than 30 days to ship? Many credit card companies forbid merchants from charging a card before the item is ready to ship, unless there is a note as to the expected ship date.

I am not impressed with any vendor who uses your money to fund a product they don't have. It's not your job to capitalize their projects, and personally I won't pay for any item that is not in hand and ready to ship.

If I recall correctly, it is also a violation of FalFiles marketplace rules to advertise a product the seller doesn't actually have in-hand and ready to ship. But then, we're used to some animals being more equal than other animals.

We don't charge and haven't been until the rifle ships. This is the first I've heard of that happening. When you make the order, the credit card company "confirms" validity of the purchase but it should not have been fully charged prior to ship date. I'll look into that but as I've said, it should not have done so.

My experience has been a very good one with acquiring this rifle. I placed the order on a Friday, December 28th. It was verified that weekend by DSA and I emailed a copy of my dealers FFL. I requested that the barrel not have the FH installed and was advised that it would be included in the box separately. I was called 4 weeks later to verify my order and means of payment as the rifles order had been received in production. I was notified at 5.5 weeks that DSA was shipping my rifle that day which was February 6th. and that my CC was being billed. I received the rifle yesterday at 6.5 weeks from the order having initially been placed. The plastic stocks and Belgian style short-FH was included in the box along with a non-essential sling and a very nicely put together by DSA manual.

I immediately replaced the buttstock and handguards with NOS Israeli LB wood that I had acquired in 2004. Installed a NOS original Israeli rear sling swivel assembly, a NOS Israeli butt-plate although the one that came installed looked to be NOS, and I added a second "HG" ring on the gas tube even though it is my understanding that the rifles were issued with only one ring installed. I just like the look of two and had two original NOS Israeli rings. I installed a NOS Khaki colored No.4Mk.1 Enfield type sling as from my own research it appears that, that particular type sling was the most common one seen on the Israeli "Romat" FAL.

The rifle now looks new through out excepting for the bolt and carrier showing finish wear from having been fired a good amount; they were not refinished. I am thinking of touching up the carrier with cold blue. I replaced the DSA plastic pistol grip with a NOS original Austrian Stg58 plastic grip and inserted a NOS 100% Israeli magazine. The rifle now presents itself very nicely, I like it!

A note about the receivers being of investment casting manufacture, it is my understanding that the original Belgian FN FAL Type-3 receivers were made from investment castings.

I installed a NOS Khaki colored No.4Mk.1 Enfield type sling as from my own research it appears that, that particular type sling was the most common one seen on the Israeli "Romat" (FAL).

A note about the receivers being of investment casting manufacture, it is my understanding that the original FN FAL Type-3 rifle receivers were made from investment castings.
.
Thanks for the update! Been watching this thread since they were offered.

I placed my order on the 28th too so it should be about that time!

So, forgive me for the poor quality as these are quickies done by just laying the rifle on the floor
in the hallway and using a small vacation camera to speed up getting some pics done for you.

I added three more pics to the last/3rd. group! The last pic was meant to show the Hebrew
symbol/letter for "A" on the Gas Plug, but the flash blew it out so that it is barely visible.

BTW, if you notice a brown looking color showing up in the center of the receiver hinge-pin in the
photos taken of the right-hand side of the receivers it was a small amount preservative-grease
setting a way back into the pin. I had not noticed it until seeing the photos and inspected the rifle
to see.
