This Officer Grade Rifle is assembled using the very best condition original Israeli Light Barrel parts kits that we have. These kits are in very good to excellent condition showing little use with only slight handling & storage marks and some scuffing. The upper receiver & top cover feature a Matt Black DuraCoat finish. This finish not only provides an extra layer of protection but gives the Officer Grade rifle the "original" painted look these guns had when first issued! In 1955 the IDF decided to adopt the FN FAL as its standard-issue infantry rifle, under the name Rov've Mitta'enn or Romat(רומ"ט), an abbreviation of "Self-Loading Rifle". The FAL version ordered by the IDF came in two basic variants, both regular and heavy-barrel (automatic rifle), and were chambered for 7.62mm NATO ammunition. The Israeli FALs were originally produced as selective-fire rifles, though later light-barrel rifle versions were altered to semi-automatic fire only. The Israeli models are recognizable by a distinctive handguard with a forward perforated sheet metal section, and a rear wood section unlike most other FALs in shape, and their higher 'Commonwealth'-type sights. Israel has been a keen user of rifle grenades, in particular the AT 52 which is often seen in photographs with the FAL

The Israeli FAL first saw action during the Suez Crisis of 1956, the Six-Day War in June 1967, the War of Attrition of 1967 until 1970, it was the standard Israeli rifle. The Israeli FAL remained in production in Israel until the 1980s.

Just as an aside your notification system for the Izzy receivers is not working. Been wanting to buy one for a while and never got notified when they came into stock. Others are saying the same.

Ok, in a few months I will come into some money.....Do you guys think these will be good quality rifles to go after? Dont own any DSA yet.....love the Israeli fals.....but would want a good shooter....

Hopefully, if you guys say these are good, they might still be around in a couple months. I would not even mind character in the wood as long as it would be a good, reliable, long-life rifle....

The DSA picture shows the original steel lower.

Say what? That the rifle uses the original kit lower? They dont say its US made aluminum so why would they include one and not use it in the marketing?
Not exactly sure what you are getting at.

I suspect that the inclusion of the non Izzy furniture is a means of complying with that 922R nonsense so that the maximum number of original parts can be used in the assembly.

Just a guess on my part.

From what I can assume are US made parts:
-Muzzle Device
-Barrel
-Receiver
-Pistol Grip
-Trigger
-Hammer
-Sear

Seems like theres already plenty of US made parts even without the US furniture.

It looks like the trigger in the DSA pic is Izzy marked. It may have been cheaper for them to throw in the furniture rather than the hts.

LOL. Did Israei officers carry a better rifle than the infantry? Did they even carry a rifle at all? If they did, did it have to function?

What a load of BS marketing.

Given that Izzy kits were $1100 if you could find one, I think $1500 is pretty good. Once the kits are gone so are the rifles.

"Very Good Condition Surplus 20 Round Magazine Body with New U.S. Made Follower, Spring & Floor Plate."

Could be the Achilles heel. How is that combo workin' out, one wonders!

What is the white strap(looks like web) on the metal part of the handguard in your picture of the young Israeli holding the rifle?

Holy cow gents, of course they're not actually officer rifles. If that's the only thing you can complain about, I'd say it's a win!

Does anybody have one of these yet? I am very anxious to hear a run down on one. Condition of original finish parts, barrel and receiver craftsmanship, do surplus mags fit or have they gone Coonan and made them "to their own "discerning specifications?"

They sent me an email today that they are available, but it seems I'm usually the last person to receive those emails so I was hopeful someone already had one.

I ordered one, so I guess I'll be critiquing it here if nobody else took the risk.

IDK but I got the email and never asked for it. But then I've been signed up for general emails from them for years so maybe it went out in a batch email.

The marketing is annoying yes. But think of what they are undertaking. Could they afford to say "Dirty old Israeli parts kit built FAL"?

I'll take the over the top marketing if it means getting my hands on a neat rifle like this. Been wanting one for a long time but did not want to spend $2500 for a light barrel.

Ordered one today.. They won't charge until it ships supposedly late January so I got nothing to lose!

Now what AK to sell to make up for this..

As I am unfamiliar with Israeli FALs I would appreciate someone explaining DSA's description of the Original Israeli Forward Assist Cocking Handle, please? Is this something unique to the Israeli model?

Yes, unique to Israeli FALs. The charging handle knob when pressed in and forward acts like a forward assist like on an AR15. And like the AR15 not original to the design of the rifle.

The LWRC REPR uses the same thing, main reason I bought one. They went to standard AR style on the new REPR, so now it's just an expensive AR10.

Any word from DSA on open ear rifles being available? I'd really like an open ear one!

+1 on open ear, lug, & standard muzzle (non-threaded), just like the vintage picture in their ad. I would buy one today, if available.

Got an email from DSA yesterday asking for my FFL license so they can ship, so ... that's a good sign.

Placed order yesterday for a non-threaded configuration, was told it would ship in 4-6 weeks. Fingers crossed on them fixing their quality issues this time around...

Update opn my DSA Order

I was contacted on January 2, requesting a copy of my FFL's license, so....there's that. No word acknowledging receipt, etc. Order on their site shows "not shipped."

Carry on.

I'd really love to have one of these and a 7.62x51 Galil side by side in my collection.

Tagging for more feedback and 1st reviews.
