I have bought used FAL parts from Apex 4-5 times, and I have been pleased or at least, satisfied each time with the quality of the parts they sent me.

Best Regards,
Slo cat

Got both my kits.. One Type A stock and wood pistol grip in what I would call Excellent condition and One Typc C stock in very good condition with wood pistol grip. The wood on the stocks actually overhangs the buttplates by at least 1/16 of an inch. One wood carry handle, one plastic.. Both flash hiders in great condition.. One early set of handguards without the horseshoe and one set with the horseshoe. All numbers match.. #6276b & #5902b. This is definitely a score!

It would be interesting to know where these things were sitting around..

Great score and kudos, def. The stocks and pistol grips seem to match.
Both kits better than expected.

I think it is retribution for my Sportsmans Guide fiasco when that all went down a couple months ago.. I missed the coupon so I paid $300 something for the kit and then it turned out to be one of the real turds.. lol.

Those do look very nice def. Are there any markings on the type "a" stock?

One of mine came with a nice "b" stock that had the BGS eagle stamped on the bottom of the wrist.

I could not take anymore. I just ordered one. Now I need to think about a barrel next. What would be the best receiver to build one of these on.

The one that had the Type c stock still has a very good finish on all of the parts except the handguards and the bipod legs.. All of the internals of the lower are still pure black. Gas tube and block still show black and the lower itself is still pretty black and still has all of the red and white lettering on the lower and the sight. I think I could just clean most of it up and build it as is. I will definitely put the A stock on this one because it has the lower serial number of the 2. The bolt carrier on it looks like it was almost unused. Buttplates are straight, no dents but need refinishing. The rear sling swivels on both are a bit loose.

The other kit isn't quite as good as the first finish wise but it is still pretty good overall.

The better of the two.. Still black:

I'm kinda scared. Ordered Thursday, received confimation Friday, but the email said a second email would be sent when the kits shipped. Haven't heard anything since, but my cc was hit on Sunday. I fully expect to miss out again and have to fight for a refund after the kits have dried up. I can be a very pessimistic optimist.

VERY glad to hear and see how these kits are turning out. I don't know why, but these seem to be the most interesting kits to have ever hit the market, and I've been buying this stuff for over 20yrs.

Received two kits last night and both could be described as the same as def90's (1 A and 1 C). Very happy with both...wish I had ordered more...

Thank you Jeff!!!

def90, that type C is either strangely dirty, or it looks to have fabulous figure in the wood.

Lessee...an EF DF lower, Type A stock....what would that have brought in if parted out three years ago?

It is a bit dirty but it does have some really nice and dark tiger striping.. I think I will use this one on the regular G1 kit I got from SG with the trashed stock and save the extra type A kit for later.

I would buy a couple more of these but then I think I might find myself waiting in line at the food bank. Anyone know how many they have?

Awesome! Thanks to all for the info.

I've just ordered one, and I'll let you guys know what I find when it gets here.

Looks like the RSA/BSAP/Rhodie projects are gonna get delayed a little bit...

We should get aezcur in on this and have him set up an excel spreadsheet on a countdown from 200 kits and who has the A-B & C type stocks.

Why would you want to use a G1 marked receiver? These were not part of the G1 contract

Just got word from home that my kits showed up today. It's gonna be a long 10 days on the road,......................

This is worse than Christmas!

OK, what's the scoop with barrels? Just any metric threaded muzzle, or is there something special about the F/H mounting like the G1? I know it should be a Belgian FN barrel to be correct, but that probably ain't gonna happen. I sorted through a few barrels the other day while home and didn't like the looks of the one Belgian I found. I do understand the GB and high front sight and can mount GB's on stripped barrels I have if that's all that's necessary. Or,...............Argy barrels? I have a couple complete spare barrels from the Argy kits sitting around. What are the chances we're going to have some issues with early gas system parts? Likely, or not?

Mine came in today. Gorgeous parts. I got a very nice tiger striped type b stock. Lower/bolt/carrier with a 4 digit serial, no b afterwards. I ordered another!

I've bought things from Apex numerous times before and have had positive transactions every time. I have no worries there.

I'm a complete newbie to the FAL (regarding nomenclature, "types" of stocks, etc.) but these kits Apex is offering have really caught my eye. I'm pondering buying a set or two to eventually have built up someday (either by myself or someone else). I've always wanted a FAL and I like the history these Belgian parts kits offer (vs. a totally new-made gun). How would one best approach finding a correct barrel for these? It seems that ATF within the past year has begun requiring barrels to be destroyed, which is a real shame.

Yeah, SARCO has brand new Argentines.. I bought one for my kit that I got from SG but I will probably use it on one of my new kits instead.. It already has a tall gas block on it so I am debating whether I should remove it and put on the one from the kit or just leave it as is.. They look pretty much identical..

I was hoping I could have received my kit before mentioning this, but ......

I have been in contact with Coonan about a 50 count run, and Apex about larger orders..

If anyone has an interest, you can P.M me.

New guy here. Normally spend my time on weaponsguild on Cetmes and such but when I saw these kits being offered I had to make a leap of faith. My only exposure to FAL's has to set headspace and grind in locking shoulders for friends. I just received my kit today, 3 days before the tracking number said it would arrive.

I'd be very interested in getting into a group buy for the correct receiver whenever I'm eligible. So far everyone on other sites has been pointing me towards a Coonan.

I've been a member here for many months, but without an FAL had little to say. Is there a build tutorial?

Here is the best "how-to" article I've seen online. It is a bit dated as it was done during the assault weapons ban.

It looks like you got lucky and got a Type A stock!

I don't know how you'd get a large order into Apex. I can't believe there are enough of these to last much longer at the current rate of absorption. And so far I like the Coonan receiver, but I wouldn't want to put a T3 on one of these kits. I suspect you might be looking at lightening them up some, but then what's the advantage over a DSA T1? The few dollars saved on the receiver would be eaten up by machining costs several times over.
