Thanks Abe. This confirmed what Sarco said, but I've never had a Izzy or Argy to compare to. My front sight post is not straight like yours,it is very conical in shape.

The front sight post in my FAL has the number 6 stamped and the one I've got with the kit from SARCO has the number 0 (zero) and is conical and short as you mentioned. I remember reading here in the Files (somewhere...Eureka database) that there are several different sizes of these front post in order to do the proper sighting.....DSA has 4 different sizes, STG are 5 i believe and israelies 6...not sure. Argies ...don't know but probably is like the Izzys.....

For the latest chart go to the end of the thread. Thanks.

Merry Christmas...

Went over to SARCO the other day and picked up an Argy Kit,
All the parts are new, and appear as new, no rust or wear.

Bolt & Carrier: 01300
Lower: 02858
Barrel: Unmarked.

I live in Carlisle, PA and am looking for someone who has the skills to put it all together for me.
I would like to find someone local,
within reasonable driving distance.

What would be the best (available) receiver to use on this kit?
Do I understand the post correctly...
that the front sight is in need of a different one,
using the parts that were shipped with this kit?

And, do all the receivers need to be cut/ground for a relief to match the Argy lower?

Trying match all these number should prove entertaining!!

Thanks...

find an old Century frankenfal that's stamped "made in canada" on the right side, outside of magwell ... serial number starting with 11XXX are Argy receivers IIRC ... they also have the relief cuts at rear of top cover slots ... the rifles are selling cheap now ... most will have a mixed Inch kit built on 'em ...

buy one, break it down, sell the Inch kit and ......... WoW ......... = Forged Argy receiver !!

Updating chart with Bravoemike serial numbers.
Bravoemike: your bolt and b/carrier are only two numbers apart from DakTo upper...we are getting closer! somebody should get a New Year surprise!

For the latest chart go to the end of the thread. Thanks.

Regarding your question on the front sight...it should be OK with what you got in your kit.

Juggrunner: you have provided a very interesting tip regarding the Century receivers..are you 100% sure? I've seen several threads and a lot of discussion on the origin of those receivers but not really an answer with absolute certainty.....but I guess this is our only chance to get an Argy upper these days.... THANKS!

The Para lower I have is: 130345

With DSA Type III's going for $310 I can't see parting out a gun. You gain a US part too. The DSA & FMAP are basically equal. Both forged, both 100% heat treat.

Way to go FALonious!!!!. If we can get more members to buy these up,although some are thinking these were the older kits that were used with missing parts etc. These new Sarco kits are all new parts in new condition just like they advertised, well I know mine was.

Sarco is advertising 3 kits.. at price levels from $549, $285 and $185.. What kits are everyone buying and what condition are the 2 lower price kits in? I'm assuming the $549 kit is in excellent condition.. I think I would be mostly convcerned about the condition of the lower receiver and the barrel as I think with one of these I would just go with new US made furniture for compliance parts.

Well done FALonious!! I must admit I couldn't resist the temptation and a few days ago I ordered another Argie kit from SARCO
I was really happy with my first one because everything is spanking new and I'm sure these kits will not last forever.

def90: The brand new kits are the ones at $549 and they are all original Argentine FMAP. When I spoke with them on the phone (a couple of months ago)the other cheaper kits they couldn't assure me the origin, they told me were metrics and mostly Rhodie but could be mixed with Imbels. See the pic: This is the SARCO part number FAL021B

I agree that it is tempting but other than getting a new barrel and gas assembly I am not sure it is totally worth it.. they may be un-issued but the numbers aren't matching and you still have to replace half the stuff with new US made parts so even though the stock and other items show no wear they are just going to be taken off anyway and I would not count on ever being able to legally put the original parts back on in our lifetimes.. After you buy the kit, receiver and the replacement parts you will most likely be over $1k.. It would save money on refinishing of the lower and some of the other parts but you can get an imbel kit with a new US made stock set from DSA for $395.. Maybe I'm wrong or I'm just not seeing the big picture but I guess to me it doesn't seem like a good enough deal to jump on it..

For me:
real value/perceived value.

After I received the kit,
...and looking at the barrel, new and chromed.
that's got to be worth 300. bucks or more.
I found an Argy Muzzle Device and bought it,
lost track of my parts count,
Actually I have no idea where I am at for parts count,
or the cost of anything I have bought.
Well...I just looked and paid 310. for a DS Upper when they were on sale.
Seems,
...this is like being on 'crack'.

Went out for dinner and drinks last night,
I bought,
now I'm pissed cause I could have bought more 'FAL STUFF' with that money.
and...
need more ammo... Need More Ammo...NEED MORE AMMO!!

Seems,
everytime I go to the range its a 100 bucks for ammo.

I would think in the end after building,
the real cost would be nebulas,
perhaps little over hundred bucks for US compliance parts,
less the receiver.
But, please don't remind me what the real cost is,
I know I have a little more wiggle room left on my Visa,
...not much though.
I am certain the others of this furum,
...would answer this cost/value question better than I.

I do know, I enjoy nice quality 'stuff',
and the argy surely takes me to that level!!

At the end of the day,
shooting with a 'buddy',
pints after,
talkn' junk,
surely guns, and always the perils of women.
Ah yes,
life is good.

If you are wanting a correct Argy rifle, you want Argy parts. You can't buy the parts for a complete parts kit cheaper, plus get new parts, with a new finish to boot.

Perhaps the last FN licensed built, arsenal quality,Fal parts in new condition.
That has to be worth some kind of premium over surplus 30 year old kits
and used or US made barrel. Not putting down made in USA just sayin'.
In fact it's too bad that are military is buying SMGs from germany, sidearms from Italy, SAW from austria, while tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs are needed here. Yes I know those companies have factories here, but
where do their loyalties lie.

Overseas profits

TEDG, Correction on the M249 SAW's and M240's, Thier not Austria, Thier Belgium as in FN Herstal, Made in Colombia, South Carolina. But yes the profits like anything else that is foreign owned goes out of the country.

And your absolutely right about getting our manufacturing base back to the USA again, Otherwise like what is already happening to us, We are in deep shit. But try and tell our stupid ass politicians that. I say we fire them all and try them for HIGH TREASON against the oath they swore to defend, Or is that to line thier pockets with. Rant off, Lee.

Ok, I received the 3 kits today.
Unlike others have reported my lowers and bolt/carrier's are all # the same.
My barrels are not # at all....?

1 - 01051
2 - 01432
3 - 01019

Any idea why mine are different in that all 3 lower's and bolt/carriers match?

FALonious,
This is really nice, good for you! Probably SARCO has started to match the Serial numbers? three kits with matching number is NOT just luck. Another good one for SARCO, I think.

See updated table:

For the latest chart go to the end of the thread. Thanks.

OK, another SARCO Kit for the list! I've just received my last one today and all matching numbers (lower-bolt-bolt carrier 01469). Someone with upper 01469? . Everything brand new, unissued...beautiful.
Now I find myself in need of two Uppers....and everything started just because I wanted *some* spares for my Argy FAL ...well I guess I'm trapped in FAL passion.

Updated Chart:
For the latest chart go to the end of the thread. Thanks.

Aaron,
If you want I can do the same spreadsheet for the G1 thread. Could you point me to that post? I can maintain it as I do here...just a thought.
