I looked at that FAL myself, figured it might actually break the $5K mark.

The 50.63 will hit $7000 by someone who thinks a box is worth $2500.

I was thinking 9 to 10K for both.
It will be interesting to watch when they end.

Not sure why the love for 50.63s....other than numbers. A FAL without a carry handle just looks wrong.

Another 50.63 came up for auction.
It most likely took some of the interest from the first one.

50.63

Another came up a few days ago and the seller had an NR for a feedback rating. He was selling the rifle for someone else. He had a buy it now of 3400.00. I wrote to him and he called me that evening. He mentioned the owner had 4 battle packs(800 rounds)of Hirtenberger ball ammo and I asked if he would include the ammo and shipping. Amazingly he said yes... Needless to say I bought the package. The rifle appears to have fewer than 100 rounds through it. He also sent a tube bayonet and 1 magazine with it. I am a happy guy with too many 50.63's! LOL

Sounds like a real great score

Well, one point is that they are about as scarce as the G series.

I frankly think the handle, while cute, is pretty stupid. None of my "go to" FALs has a handle, but that's just my personal preference.

The Brit troops used to test the EX series metrics in the early 50s said the carry handle was useless. I agree. Too bad the RSC wasn't listening. 50.63s were a sign that FN was finely catching on. The folding charging handle was smart too. I liked my 50.63 but my mission for it was purely being a shooter not a collector's item. My SAR48 PARA is a better rifle and I only have about 1500 in it. The 50.63 sold for 2500. I didn't have a 2500 dollar box. At most an original box may worth 100 for a G Series, because there are almost none of those. That 50.63 box may worth 5. It's well beat up. They aren't presentation cases.

The original cardboard box, esp one with a Browning label still visible will add a lot more than $100 to a nice example of a G.

I sold my 63 5 years ago for around 3500. Along with the rest of my Paras except the mini 63.
They look cool but I don’t like shooting them. I don’t like the balance. They seem front heavy to me.
My favorite is a Argie on Argie with the barrel cut down to 18’’, low front sight and para rear sight.
It has a nice center of balance for combat style shooting or hunting Hogs.

Unless you used an alloy lower ( as I prefer on shortened FALs ) I don't see why there would be any difference. If anything, a carbine length FAL should be front end light compared to a standard 21" rifle.

With a loaded mag I like the center of balance.
With the 21'' barrel I feel like there is a broomstick sticking out the end of the barrel. When I swing the rifle shooting multiple targets.. But YMMV

I'm lost here. A .63 with the short barrel should be front end light compared to the 50.00 and .61s, but you said you sold the .63 because you said it felt front end heavy, whereas a virtually identical short barrel Argy feels fine.

As long as you are happy, that's all that matters, I just found your comment curious, is all

The Argie has a standard stock on it with a nice rubber butpad.
Sorry if I didn't make clear.
