L1A1

New to FAL's and think I like the inch pattern best. For a decent running shooter what do these guys go for?

from $650 to $3000 depending on your tastes
if you just want a rifle and any one will do then an angry beaver with its balls cut off will set you back $650 to $750. but if you want a correct looking rifle with nice wood with a correct looking receiver then it will set you back a whole lot more money

Yep. Much like everything else in life- you get what you pay for and you pay for what you get. So it really just comes down to your budget and your priorities.

What has already been said is correct. You can probably expect to pay between $1000-$1400 for a nice L1A1, with correct features, built from a kit on a decent receiver. Maybe a little less depending on condition of the kit.

On the low end around $700 you can buy a Century hacked up rifle that would probably shoot OK but would have an atrocious thumb hole stock, no flash suppressor, etc. On the high end you could maybe find a rifle that was not build from a kit onto 3rd party receiver; a rifle built completely by Lithgow but those are pretty rare as few were imported.

Here is one for $900. If it has an Imbel receiver, which many Century guns did, then it would probably be good to go. There is just one photo and no description so many questions would need to be asked of the seller. And if it did not have an Imbel receiver I would steer clear of it.

Not an Imbel receiver on that one. Steer clear.

This pretty reasonable with a tidy up and a top cover replacement. Inch kit on Imbel with correct furniture. If you picked that up for $900 it would be.. okay. Not stellar, but not bad at all. Basis for a good inch gat.

Just try and get a good one to start with. Nothing worse than comparing the one you bought with pics. of the one you wish you had got.

Just depends on what's hiding inside or under the hider. I've seen a bunch of these with everything from glue to loctite to non-standard pipe thread machine work under the newly installed hider. A lot of things also possible in the lower. Caution and see what you buy firsthand if at all possible (on your very first buy) and shoot it if possible would be my advice. Just too many variables with pawn shop buys unless you've had potential problem areas identified by a "bird dog" pal or assistance. Things can be corrected, but some things get expensive to correct...and some things can be done that really trash parts taken for granted.
