I'm glad I read this post. I knew that I wanted to go but I had no idea that tickets would sell out so fast. So both the 10K and 20 K are completely filled? I'll work out the logistics of travel later but wow, that's fantastic. Is the winter one more popular than the summer? I swear I remember the summer one taking a little while longer to sell out.

Like I mentioned on FB, the further I have to travel, the more of a challenge/distance I want. I wanted to do the 20 K in the summer but I skipped since it was my first one ever, and didn't want to die out there.

Again, I'm really looking forward to this. I'm generally a motivated person but it's so much easier for me to run and hit the gym regularly if I know I have something to train for. So I figure I'll just pick a run and gun every couple months and I'll be set. I'm looking forward to seeing you again in Kentucky for Tigers run! I'm trying to get a couple of friends to come with me this time to help with the drive.

The more I learn about you, the more I am impressed. It'd be great if you could bring friends - Tiger is having some trouble filling his match. Small word of warning: he does math like Okies do math. You might want to train for more than 6k.

I think it's easier due to our mild winters...heat just sucks.

If we ever have an ice storm or get a foot of snow, things will get interesting quick. Imagine the creek crossing or the hill with snow n ice....and the road is all uphill.

I know a while bunch of women (and a couple men) that are good at cooking and baking. I only know one other woman who has tackled the 20k, and she impresses the hell out of me too. But to be fair, I only know a few men who have tackled the 20k, and I am wholly impressed by them as well.

Melanie I wish we lived closer, I think that we would get along pretty well together!! I only briefly spoke to her at OK, I was kind of star struck so I don't think I mumbled much more than, "omg youre amazing"...

I am doing the RnG's because they are fun and I like them of course, but ultimately I want to start working towards the long range sniper challenges. I want to do the Purgatory one next year and it looks pretty brutal. For my size I'm pretty strong, but I'll still have to do the same tasks everyone else does, and there looks to be quite a bit of dragging your partner around mine will likely be a 200lb dude so I'll hit the strength training pretty hard when we get closer. In the meantime the RnGs will be great practice for obstacles, and what does and doesn't work as far as carrying gear.

And whatever one that Bruno posted about (that really got me going on this whole thing months ago), I think it was somewhere in the northwest, some 30 mile hump where you have to navigate/camp/shoot/etc, that's what I want to do too.

Bring on the adventure for 2018!!!

You and Mel should partner up for one of these and dominate! I remember Rusty (her husband) and Matt (their friend) and her talking about some partner-based match coming up and they were trying to decide who would partner with whom. Put Rusty and Matt on a team and you and Mel on a team and it would be a great mix.

Or it may be like putting two lionesses in a cage together and you guys would kill each other. Hard to tell...

Nah - I could tell she was cool. We'd get along real good!! To be honest with you I have never met a girl into guns that I did not instantly hit it off with anyway!

I will go out on a limb and say scheduling for Veteran's Day. Unfortunately the Federal Holiday is observed on Friday (day off) and that weekend probably has a lot of competing events for Vets (at least speaking from that stand point personally, which is why I can't make it) which make up a significant pool of the folks that could/would participate in such an event. Many of the Active Duty folks will have a lot of mandatory commitments that weekend and well as former and retirees in things like ceremonies, banquets, balls, hometown parades etc... Friday (Nov 10th) is the Marine Corps Birthday, so from the Corps stand point, that takes a lot of us out of the availability mix. Just my perspective.

So i made it alright.

Just over 14 miles.

Not fast at all, just over 7 hours. The group i went with from the gym was really SLOOOOOW!

Only failed 3 obstacles. The rope climb, a ring/bar/pipe swing, and a rotating grip monkey bar.

There were a lot of water crossings. Some deep and some long.

The mud pit/dunk obstacle was early on the course. Maybe low 40's. With a 5-10 wind.

It was cold all day. We were in and out of water from beginning to end.

A little stiff and sore today.

Trifecta complete.

Beast qualified.

Anymore, i don't even get 7 hours of continuous sleep.

But, i believe i could've easily finished in the 5.5 hour range.

But would've failed a couple more obstacles.

You look great but you're missing a riFAL!!!!

So, this weekend is the two month mark for January...sheesh this is going by fast. Here I was contemplating a little break in between the KY R&G and buckling down for January, but it looks like Sunday & Monday are it for rest days LOL.

I'm going to try and do a lot of cold weather running...since it looks like avg temps for Pawnee in Jan are in the 30's (in the heat of the day I'm assuming lol). Basically just never let myself get warm and comfortable this winter and I will be good

Temps in Oklahoma are really pretty awesome - average in Pawnee is 70.
20 in winter, 120 in summer = 70 average.....
