Lost Spring

Okay, I was being dumb. I was disassembling the magazine catch assembly and I couldn't get the catch to come out due to the spring. So I was teasing it with a pick, trying carefully to get it out and ... it flew off into outer space, never to be seen again.

So my questions are:

1. Is there some off-the-shelf spring I can use as a replacement? Seems it just needs to have enough strength to keep the catch engaged unless pressed to release. Surely there's a place where I can find a similar spec spring.

2. If no off-the-shelf solution is available, is this a spring I can buy somewhere? Is there an "official" name for this spring (I'm assuming magazine catch/release spring)?

3. Does someone out there have one of these astronomically inclined springs they are willing to part (pun intended) with?

Thanks!

Here's a pci of the magazine catch (I think I'm calling it right, correct me if I am wrong) so show where the spring once called home.

There is no off the shelf that I know of, as in another common spring that is the same.

One can always cut them from wolff stock. I Only have a few left and will have to be doing this soon.

Same stock as a FAL rear sight spring.

Inch pattern magazine catch springs are also listed at Ernst Armory and Numrich.

Man, I've had a ton of those springs, NOS, at one time. I only have about 10 or so left for my stuff. I also had a bunch of the rear sight Z springs, NOS, BHO internal springs/plungers, too. The pile in the basement is getting smaller.

Good News!

The Prodigal Spring has returned!

I actually did find a spring that would have worked, and as I was about to prepare the rifle's reassembly, I found it hiding under my bench grinder. The odd thing, of course, is that the bench grinder is on the opposite end of the bench where the spring flew off to. Can't explain it but happy for its return.

Thank you for all your support.
