G1 in slow motion

My Grandson pulled this YouTube video up a few months ago for me. " Inside the FN Fal".
There is a slow mo where you can see the safety sear engage the hammer before the bolt goes into battery. If you have'nt seen it, check it out. Great FAL porn.

The sound editing accompanying the slow motion footage was pretty awesome as well.

Very cool video. I had no idea the gas piston extended so far into the receiver. And I had never seen footage of a full auto FAL before.

Very cool video - and sent me down a path of slow-mo shooting videos on youtube. Very interested in seeing the barrel flex, and on other videos the flex across the receiver. One video I came across also did a comparison of various muzzle devices on a free floated AR - very interesting stuff!

The German G1s are gorgeous examples of the FAL aren't they?

I havent got to try all the many vintage variants but my guess is you would be hard pressed to find a better made version of the FAL than a German G1 or Austrian STG58.

Larry Vickers channel is great. The Glock 10mm 20 hitting the steel plate at 250 meters is one of my favorite videos he did-those 10mms are some awesome handguns.

That surprised me, too.

Awesome video. I had to rewind it several times. So at about 0:35, what are all those flakes flying around? Is that brass being scraped from the cases?

One thing that surprises me when watching slow motion gun videos such as this is the amount of barrel flex and in some guns the amount of receiver flex. It's imperceivable when firing but watching it in slow motion makes me wince a little bit. Check out the AK 74 video. When he pulls the trigger at about 1:39, that thing flops around like an Oscar Mayer wiener.

Absolutely.

See the flurry of brass shavings at ~0:35?

Disregarding the barrel flex, I had no idea the G1 flash hider moved that much.

Shows where the case mouth gets it's beating I think. There's a lot of rammin' an'a jammin' going on in there.

Yeah. The first thing I thought of was Old Dirty working without a gas piston spring. That one had to take a beating but it kept on working.
