Minimum order was 500 uppers, SAW bought about 200 uppers, YTM bought 200 and I bought 100. They sold like hot cakes down here in SE Florida, Kept one for my self and upgraded my Bushy to all Colt M-4 Parts. Now as far as Colts go,. I have the following, Colt M-16A1 Commando, Colt M-16A1 Light machinegun with the 1/12 twist H-Bar barrel and a M-60 Bi-Pod that has been upgraded to a Colt RO750 Light machinegun open bolt system, M-16A2 Factory 9mm submachinegun with a DOE upper and a Flat top upper. Then about 10 years ago I bought from Reuben Mendiola a Sendra M-16 that was converted by Bushmaster, Yet the selector stops were milled down, So I used a Bushy 14 1/2 INCH BARRELED FLAT TOP UPPER WITH A Colt Socom 4 position selector group and a Colt M-4 stock assembly with a Bushmaster M-203 underneath. So Yeah, I have a Few RARE Colt's.
I sure would love to see that collection ! Wow , even a picture would do me .
You going to Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot & Show Next month ?

For a while there were rifles issued based on how ordered the fun switch could be shipped to drop anywhere from three to six rounds each operation of trigger. Have a first cousin who is big Class 3 collector as in over 40 with at least a dozen Colts. Has a lot of H&K as well with other nice stuff. One of his rifles has a three shot burst and another has a five. Having spent a fair amount of time shooting his toys if I were in charge of procurement at the Pentagon majority of troops would have three or five shot burst maximum fun switches. The REMF's three shot only and average 11 Bravo would get max of five depending on theater deploying to.

Why I like binary triggers so much and don't hesitate to drop the money on them. Having the extra click for legal two shot burst with some practice and trigger control can run a couple of mine in the 350 to 400 rpm range accurately. Have an 18" barrel AR with binary if have the can snapped on can run ten binary shots to empty a twenty round magazine into a 2.5" group off a rest. If use double tap trigger pulls as train for regularly with pistols can easily drop four rounds very close together based on standing, sitting, prone or off a rest. Zombie in body armor many Level 3 ceramic plates will lose integrity on first couple rounds so if next pair come in close the plate fails with two trigger bumps.

One of my cousins more unique pieces is an H&K VP70 pistol with three shot burst. Have shot it enough that my opinion is double tapping with a 1911 is more effective than the three shot burst with the VP70. Of course have been practicing 1911 double taps for almost 40 years regularly. If someone has shot the VP70 a lot they can put three rounds on center mass if ready for it, in average persons hand the third round is over head of a silhouette target.

FINELY , got to test fire my 2017 LE6940 last tuesday .

Talk about an accurate 16'' barrel , Wow A+ keeper . Even better than any of my 6921 M4's & Socom barrel's .

POF trigger make's it very smooth , Can't wait to find a 2-600yd. playground to really put the Matech rear site it to the test .

DSG contract FDE magazine , ran great right out of the package also . Had to get it to match with the DD short FDE Front Grip .

I'm not an AR guy but I do have a couple Colts because, well you just kind of have to. One is a late pre-ban and the other is a Philadelphia PD trade-in. The picture shows the 20" with a crappy aftermarket butt pad. The proper one has since been installed.

As I said, I'm not a fan of the AR but I must admit to a certain amount of pride in owning a US made rifle.

What's the extra pin above the selector?

I know it isn't an autosear pin. Too big diameter and slightly wrong location.

Colt put them in there to block anyone from adding a sear . Plus they half mooned (Half C) the BCG to go over it .

Dumbest part added, press pin out and drop autos ear in if choose. Wonder what list would land on buying some of the full auto fire control groups on gunchoker?

Knob Creek

Fly2.0, Haven't been since 2002. Now I'm down to about 11 NFA weapons and with prices up and down,Plus were getting ready to move out of the Area in the next 6 months as SE Florida is getting worse than ever before so were looking at property upstate Florida,Just haven't decided what area yet, But it will have to be a house with at least 3 to 5 acres as my wife has a Loud Paint registered quarter horse so he'll need some room to run and play too.But were looking between Titusville and St. Ausgustine, Fl. Rumor has it Knob Creek might go to a once a year show from twice a year, But from what I heard it's just a rumor right now.But once we get settled down up state again, Will most likely go next year as it will be 4 hours closer then where I'm at now as from SE Florida to the creek is about a 15 hour drive non stop.

The hole has been drilled out to large for any other use . The receiver is worthless for anything full auto .

I have not talked to Kenny for some time . But I'll ask him the next time I'm up there . This is the first time I've heard about this .
If they cut back it would most likely be April . But don't quote me on that .
There's member's on the files that are vendor's at the creek . And i heard nothing about from them ? I sure hope they keep both shows .

Also , I have a cuz that sells high home in the panhandle of Fl. , LMK if you want his name ? He might be able to help ya .

Local friend and my first cousin go to Knob Creek at least annually and always nag me to ride along. Think they want another person in vehicle in case something goes sideways. Might have to go sooner rather than later. Both make sure not to drive through VA getting there, go west then north. Unsure if it's the firearm's laws or traffic enforcement which both seems stiff from out of state perspective. Know VA loosened their laws on handguns in vehicles but still prohibits loaded rifles and shotguns. Why on the AR pistol building rage.

From your place it is I-75 to Chattanooga, I-24 to Nashville and then I-65 to Louisville.
Why would Virginia gun laws be a factor?

Would have to drop wife off in Charleston to stay with family and ride with friend who lives just outside of Ft Bragg. Try not to leave wife alone and take every opportunity to help her visit close family members which are all scattered from Columbia to Charleston. Going to Knob Creek would be perfect opportunity to allow her to visit with folks now usually only see at funerals and me to ride with a good friend seldom see face to face. He always drives west then north. He almost got popped with this going through D.C. and says in Virgininia and Maryland there are local municipalities that have odd laws that require getting case to Federal Court to get guns returned and costs a lot of money in the process. New York and Massachusetts are no man's land as well. Unless he is transporting government property in government vehicles with proper paperwork does not go through VA, D.C., NY or NYC, M

VIRGINIA:
Quote:
Fully-automatic firearms (machine guns) must be registered with the state police. Plastic firearms and some destructive devices (such as the striker 12 shotgun) are prohibited outside law enforcement. SBS, SBR, AOWs, and suppressors are legal with NFA paperwork.

Magazines capable of holding more than 20 rounds are legal but, they make the firearm an "assault weapon", subject to law accordingly.

Proof of age (18+ for long arms, 21+ for pistols) and proof of citizenship (or permanent residence license) are required for the purchase of "assault weapons". "Assault weapons" are defined as a semi-automatic, centerfire, firearm equipped with a folding stock, or equipped at the time with a magazine capable of holding more than 20 rounds, or capable of accommodating a silencer/suppressor.

The following cities and counties have exceptions that disallow the carry of "assault weapons" (any firearm that is equipped with a magazine that will hold more than 20 rounds of ammunition or is designed by the manufacturer to accommodate a silencer or equipped with a folding stock) or shotguns equipped with a magazine that holds more than 7 rounds: the Cities of Alexandria, Chesapeake, Fairfax, Falls Church, Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond, and Virginia Beach and in the Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Henrico, Loudoun, and Prince William.*
B4 any town or county can pass a law at any time in VA and if your not aware could watch your NFA firearms impounded and then hope to get them back after a court battle.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Use extreme caution when traveling through Washington, DC with a firearm. The certificate requirement for possession of firearms and ammunition does not apply to nonresidents who are “participating in any lawful recreational firearm-related activity within the District, or on [their] way to or from such activity in another jurisdiction.” To qualify for this exception, a person must, upon demand of a law enforcement officer, “exhibit proof that he is on his way to or from such activity” and that the person’s possession of the firearm is lawful in the person’s place of residence. The person must also be transporting the firearm from a place where the person may lawfully possess and carry it to another place where the person may lawfully possess and carry it, the firearm must be unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition may be readily or directly accessible from the automobile’s passenger compartment, or if the vehicle does not have a separate trunk, the firearm or ammunition must be kept in a locked container.

Basically us free state people try to avoid the northeast unless fly into New Hampshire now. It's hard to know if local ordinances are going to be passed in some municipality that might have a five mile stretch of interstate where they run speed traps and like to search for dope and guns that have a nice little local ordinance fresh on their books. Maryland is another state going to crap, any state that borders D.C. are becoming over-run by liberals that work in D.C. and support liberal agenda and are now out numbering the natives. This is not 100% throughout all places but like to err on side of caution. Two of our relatives that live in Maryland plan to move back south day their retirement kicks in.

When still young and before GA allowed carry in bars was leaving to see a swarm of cops in parking lot due to a call about someone breaking into cars. Since riding with designated driver in their vehicle only had my personal carry which was a Smith M60 with clip-it grip so could carry in the pants by just clipping grip to waistband. Our vehicle was one hit and we approached cops who had two men handcuffed and pile of stuff tagging and one was holding my Smith, had just unloaded, spun the cylinder, slammed it shut and was looking at the Glaser Safety Slugs like alien technology. Said our vehicle was broken in to as well and that was my gun. They took a report and said had to put serial number on report and would be returned after trial. Drove next day and filed an amended report with exact serial number and asked how long before the Smith would be returned. Was told that there was no mention in reports of a gun being recovered of any type. ATL cop stole my little Smith. Reported it stolen and circumstances locally and to this day never been recovered.

I and many others I know are very distrustful of certain states and even a lot of our own local municipalities. Have known cops with large gun collections supplimental by firearms taken from people that were "cutting a break" such as probation violations or concealed without license and confiscated the gun(s) and let per go with stiff verbal warning and took gun(s) home. This is a very small percentage but enough to cause many to not only be cautious and drive around some little towns and avoid states have read or heard about horror stories of confiscation. Virginia is one where if speeding will likely get stopped and if have a gun it might not come home with you. Another reason I have three dash cams in my vehicle. Losing a trunk load of machine guns on way to a shoot would suck. For most part GA, SC, NC, TN, AL, MS and KY are good to go just following state law and not driving too fast.

Gun Shows

I stopped doing the Gun Shows last May. Used to do Ft.Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Miami. That was doing 48 shows a year. Starting doing the shows in 1998 and after 11 years of doing all three I stopped doing two of the shows and only did Ft.Lauderdale for the last 7 years as the other two went to sht. Easier to do the internet than doing the shows anymore.Had 5 tables at a cost of 95.00 to 115.00 a table and when you only had 15 hours total for both days, It got old quick. Used to sell Colt, HK, Sig and Fal stuff, Plus magazines and ammo. Manatee is about 3 1/2 hours from my house. Might go to the creek towards the end of the year, But will have to see if the house sells first and where we'll windup at with the new house.

I hear ya , The net is the new way to sell . I never set up at any show anymore . Been going to knob creek sense 98' , for all the full auto fun , and to see old friends , and pickup a few good deals .

But the net , you still have to deal with the ''nit picker's'' , and all out Ashats that troll every move you make . Lucky for me ,I only had one of them in the last 10 years .

Sadly, state game reg's are 10 round limit, so they will come in handy popping some coyotes that I keep catching on the trail camera.

Do you need my contact info again? I can PM it to you.

Thanks.

Some quotes have seen posted of late:

Quote:
Others may be as good, but Colt makes their parts to the Current Military Standard found in the weapon's Technical Data Package - since they wrote it over the last forty (40) years and 8 Million ARs and Uncle Sam requires it of all Vendors making that part or item.
Little things like correct alloy, exact tempering/hardness, triple hard coat anodized vs. double (or even single!), exact dimensions, etc, are pretty much a given on Colt parts. Other parts may look ok, but you just don't know to what standard they are made.
Quote:
Here are the things the Colt has that the Windham doesn't...it's up to you to decide if you're willing to pay for them. I'd recommend you do, though, for what it's worth:

1) Manufactured by the owner of the Technical Data Package and therefore the proper specs and dimensions for all components.
2) 1:7 twist, chrome-lined, High Pressure Tested and Magnetic Particle inspected CMV4150 barrel.
3) High Pressure Tested and Magnetic Particle inspected Carpenter 158 bolt
4) Properly-staked gas key on the bolt carrier
5) Properly-staked castle nut
These are representative of dozens of similar quotes. Basically most folk who are hard core AR affianados have a Colt put back for end of the world scenarios.

For most of us the TDP doesn't matter as the TDP is valid ONLY FOR the M4, M4A1,M16A3 and M16A4. The TDP is valid only for select fire weapons that allow three round burst or full automatic fire.
Here's an interesting on mil-spec and mil-std: http://www.defensereview.com/wp-cont...ummer_2008.pdf

so the Colt fanbois are out of luck too
