Suppressor and no host . . .

. . . . so I pick up my Rugged Obsidian .45 pistol can. I do not have a single centerfire pistol with a threaded barrel. This ever happen to you? Sounds like buying magazines for a gun one does not yet own . . . only more expensive.

One of these - http://www.gunbroker.com/item/629319499

Plus appropriate barrels - 45 LC, 45acp, maybe other 40-44 cal stuff. How about 45-70?

The problem with a pistol is that you will need tall sights as well besides a barrel. I just bought a Sig 227 tactical instead of converting a standard pistol.

ETA: The Sig is a tack driver. Shot the FNX and just wasn't all that impressed. Also, you will need to get a piston. The guy who sold me mine threw in the piston as I had already bought the pistol before the stamp came in.

ratas did the right thing, buy something you want and then figure out what will best go with it.

Ideas will crop-up like the P227 or something else. Once you have the suppressor in hand there are lots of possibilities

Maybe it's time to look at an SBR in a pistol caliber. A 45 pistol can will work just fine on a 40

I hear you. Been considering a threaded barrel for my Para Ord .45. Maybe I should just get a dedicated pistol with taller sights.

I do have pistons for .45, 9mm, and one for a fixed mount that I can use for 300 BLK subs only. I need to snag one for the .40.

45 acp threaded barrels for 1911's are reasonable. There is a company selling SIG factory threaded barrels for $89 but keeping under my hat unless someone asks via PM as trying to save up for more. Your 45 can should work decent with 40 and 9mm. Mine does. Have a dedicated 9mm can and had to buy a host for it when papers cleared. A SIG 2022 in clean used condition sells for $350, add threaded barrel and tall tritium sights and your $525 in it. Can buy a SIG Tacops TB 1911 for $750 street already set up for can. Love my Tacops with Hybrid can and my 2022 with Osprey. Always disliked 9mm till started using 147 grain ammo through the Osprey, now it goes everywhere with me in my briefcase. Still have pile of cans in BATFE jail but have hosts for them all waiting. It was the pistol cans sent me scrambling. Had 22 pistols with cans just nothing bigger than MAC 11's in 380 till now. The MAC cans are 380 but won't take 9mm what was told. They are a hoot to shoot. I need some more FAL tools, will buy some when get out of hospital if promise to spend my money on your suppressor host. Deal?

What thread pitch does your pistons have?

My Para barrel is 16mm, my 1911 is .578, my 9mm's are 1/2x28 but they also come in other threads, 40 cal 9/16 but two different thread pitches - 300 BO/Whisper usually 5/8x24 but some had 1/2x32 or other threads.

And a fixed barrel mount:
5/8-24
Plus a 9mm front cap.

Ok - easy to find .578x28 is 1911 barrels - Do you have a 1911?
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/983...el-matte-black
Even Glock 21
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/546...-black-nitride

1/2x28 is most found on 9x19 or 22LR pistols (yes your 45 can works fine on 9 or 22) - If you have a 9x19 in common pistols (Glock, Beretta, 1911) barrels are again available - do you have one of those kind of pistols.
http://www.brownells.com/handgun-par...prod69437.aspx

22 caliber pistol - if you have a pistol with replaceable barrel (high standard or browning) you can find barrels not as easily but they are out there. Usually these days just easier to buy a handgun ready to roll from Ruger, Sig, Walther etc.

Where does your inventory stand so I know what to search for...

You hit it. Very helpful. Thanks.

I have two 1911s. I looked at the Swenson barrels, and their quality seems hit and miss. Been considering a Storm Lake, Jarvis or Ed Brown. All in the mid $200 range.

I also have a few Glocks in .40.

Beretta 92F and Sig P6/P225 are main 9mm guns.

Ruger with PacLite upper . . . but I already have a couple of .22 suppressors.

I would be interested in what you would recommend for the Beretta and Sig.

40 cal is usually 9/16 but there are a couple of thread pitches used so research what they have for your
Rugged Obsidian in the way of pistons then search for the barrel.

I have a Barsto for my P225 - I don't know if they catalog it but there was a run made for Sig forum members

- I picked up a used threaded 92 barrel on Silencer talk,

You can watch E-bay for one and the other silencer sites. One just sold yesterday on
http://form1suppressor.boards.net - they are not rare.

NEW, they are in stock in a couple of places

http://www.brownells.com/handgun-par...72-191983.aspx

https://www.silencerhq.com/GEMTECH-T...m9-thd-bbl.htm

Or if you have a gunsmith you can have the factory barrel threaded - there is just enough sticking out of the M9/92 to do it.

see page 3

Need to order some FAL tools. Docs said cancer in remission again yesterday so can resume life. If buy more of your tools then you hopefully have more money to spend on suppressor parts or host. Saw where your barrel vice is all I am missing from your site. (Have your receiver wrench) Also need a bolt disassembly tool and head space gauge so whatever you may have to sell may help fund your needs. Had a fourth kit arrive today and now ready to get busy finishing rest of my FAL's.

I have plenty of wrenches, vises, and also timing tools in stock. Order at will.

Glad to hear cancer is in remission. Hope that it stays that way.

I finally ordered and received a Storm Lake threaded barrel for one of my 1911s. Only issue installing it was that the Storm Lake bushing was a no fit, so I just used the original one. First test fire scheduled for about two weeks from now. A friend of mine just got his SiCo Hybrid, so we are having a stamp party.

CDNN has SIG 2022 9mm threaded barrels for $89. Bought one and came in sealed SIG packaging so ordered a second. Told another Files member who said just a few weeks ago they still had them. Can order the 2022 threaded barrel from them, Meprolight tall tritium sights and put in a lightly used 2022 for almost $200 less than buying a factory SIG 2022 Tacops. I better order another before you guys clean them out. Never checked to see if 2022 barrels fit any other SIG models.

Stamp party was great.

Fired the Para Ord 1911 with the Rugged Obsidian. It ran 100%. Tried full length and K-version of Obsidian. K-version hurt my ears, so I will run it on 45s in long version only. I could clearly see the fiber optic front sight, so it was not too hard to aim. Really cool hearing the round hitting the steel targets or zipping into the berm.

I also located a source for threaded barrels for my Sig P225/P6. Their site says they take a few months for delivery, so I had better get one ordered. Now that I typed this . . . . I had better remember who they were . . .
