A long life

Mom passed away early this morning. She was 102 years old. Nothing specific, everything just wore out. She had been able to live at home with a 24/7 health aide until just a few months ago. Her health declined to the point where she was too much for the aide to handle so she had to go to a nursing home. I have been visiting her twice a week and I was doing her laundry. I saw her yesterday and she was unable to speak. Something told me that the end was near. I told her that it was okay to go. This morning I got the call. Today sucks.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your mother. Just over a year ago my own mother passed as I held her hand and I fully understand what you must be feeling. Always a tragic happening. Focus on her life and all the love and joy she shared with you and not her passing. May God be with her.

I dread getting that call. I hope it will be considerable ways in the future.

Her longevity should be a celebration. But yes, sorry for your loss.

Few of us prepare for a long life,,, it just happens in most cases,,, at some point when it ends it can be a blessing,,, except for the loss felt by those left behind.
I miss my momma.

I can only reiterate what the rest here have said and say that my thoughts are with you. I lost my mother when she was way to young to pass (and I to process it probably), when the hurt settles, clutch the great memories most dearly.

I've received that call too. I'm sorry for your loss. 102 is a great achievement though.

Sorry for your loss. Mom was 102? What are you, 80? Both of you were in bonus years. Thank G_d for that blessing.

I'm 65. It's a sobering thought for me when I think that I may be staying on this planet for another 30 years or so. Ma was a strong and independent woman all of her life. For the last three decades she lived her life and I lived mine, we only saw each other a few times a year. It was only three years ago that she started needing any help from anybody. I spent a great deal of time with her in the last couple of years and got to know her as a person from a whole different perspective. I am glad that I did. She's free now, and no longer confined to an old worn out body that wouldn't let her do what she wanted to do. Thank you all for your prayers.
