Prayers needed!

I could really use some prayers.
I’ve had a rough 24 hours or so. Tuesday morning I got a phone call from the nurse at my Dads nursing home saying he had fallen during the night. She said he was ok and that his legs had just given out while she was helping him to the bathroom. He didn’t get hurt other maybe a bruise or two. Then Wednesday morning I called to let Dad know that I would be taking him to his doctor appointment on Thursday morning. He said he was having a hard time breathing and wasn’t feeling good. He was wanting to go to the hospital, the nurse talked to him about having the nurse practitioner come in and having x-rays done at the home which Dad was okay with. I got a call about noon from the nurse saying that they had started Dad on some antibiotics as he had pneumonia again ( third time since November). I headed down to see him, I got down there about 2 spent about an hour so with Dad. He said he hadn’t been sleeping well and said he was tired and wanted to take a nap. I had also gone down to pick up some paper work as we were trying to fight the VA because they had taken his ventilator away from him at the end of October because it cost $850 per month to rent from the medical supply company versus the $150 per months for the one they wanted him on.
Sorry for the side note, but I was a couple minutes from home when the nurse called to say they had gone into check on Dad and he was not responsive, this was just about 4 pm. I got a call from the nurse about the time I walked through the door of my house saying my dad had passed away before the ambulance had arrived.

My dad wasn’t the greatest dad, he lived a hard life. He served in the military in Vietnam where he received the bronze star and Purple Heart and was put in for the silver star but it was blocked by his lieutenant who he had disobeyed. After returning home he tried to get help from the VA for what we now call PTSD. The VA refused to help him, so he looked to other means for help. First it was marijuana which turned into other drugs. He was a recovering addict for the past 10 years or so. He found his way back to God and had turned his life around.

The last thing we did together was said a prayer. His prayer started this way, “Heavenly Father I come before you at this time as a broken and humble man asking you for help...”

I feel I could use some prayers at this time.

As a Christian I am certain that your Dad is in good hands. God answers all prayers, sometimes the answer is no with the exception being when you ask for his help to heal your spirit.
Jesus said “If your son asked you for bread would you give him a stone?”

Of course it is a true story. You just couldn't make up something like that, no way.

I'll send a prayer for your dad and you as well. The passing of one's parent is always difficult to experience. He may have left this physical world, but in your heart and mind his memory will live forever.

Tough day but some things in life are worst than death. Being a Marine combat veteran in Vietnam i must be close to your Dads age. I watched my Mother a Army Officer of WWII wither away in a nursing home. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. May your Dad R.I.P. and prayers sent.

Thank you all for your prayers and support. I found this today when I was going through some of Dads papers and pictures. He never wanted me to join the military because of what he went through.

“For heroism in connection with military operations against a hostile force: Private First Class Bray distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions on 31 January 1968 in the Republic of Vietnam. On this day, the third platoon of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion (Airborne). 503d Infantry engaged an estimated enemy reinforced squad. During the initial contact, the point man of the platoon was severely wounded. Despite the intense enemy small arms fire, Private First Class Bray exposed himself to rush to the aid of the wounded man. Even though he was wounded, Private First Class Bray, continued to expose himself and work on the wounded man. When he was wounded the second time, Private First Class Bray was forced to stop working on the wounded man, but he continued to yell encouragement to the men around him. Private First Class Bray’s actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.

For his actions Wendell Bray received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. This was taken from the general orders recognizing Wendell Bray’s actions.”

Your old man is in G_d's hands now and will be well cared for. May your family find comfort in that thought.

Grumpy, sorry for your loss. He's free now, from all his earthly constraints. Wish him well on his journey.
