Fake L1A1 wood.

I'd been pondering it for a long time, and finally did it.

I think it turned out well.

Nice wood, eh?





Bell and Carleson fiberglass handguards.

Epoxied in a metal insert for the screw. Sanded down the texture. Added wood grain with side of checkering file. Sprayed with Krylon Satin Dark Brown. Washed with alcohol based red/brown and wiped off the highlights. Will probably give a spray with satin or flat polyurethane for wear resistance.

That is some good WECSOG stuff right there. Making something into what it isn't. Shall we add Faux Woodcrafter after GP's title?

A little more gray and they'll look like coachwood.

They look good.

You could run that front nose through a 2 inch spool/drum sander, you would have that defined arc....

It may be worth a try.

yeah, and I could fill one of the holes with Marine Tex

That didn't occur to me either. But then I'd been trying to sell these for $20 for over a year with no takers, so I had nothing to lose.
