180gr subsonic 300 blk load data

I just picked up some of the 180gr rainier plated bullets for the blackout and can't find anything on loading them for subsonic, lots of people seem to be posting ideas but I don't have a whole lot of faith in info from unfamiliar boards. Anyone had any luck and have a powder recommendations? Ideally it's an 8 inch suppressed but if possible I'd like to have it stay subsonic and stil work in a 10 in unsupressed. Pistol gas systems of course.

I can't recommend powder charge because I've only loaded 110's at full tilt.

The thing I wanted to mention is bullet runout on a loaded round. I have a set of Hornady dies, and was getting around .010" runout, and they shot terrible. Was embarrassed. The cavity in the bullet seater that is *supposed* to line the bullet up with the case was short and big. I had to deepen it in my lathe to make it work. Now it seats bullets with no more than .004" runout, and the groups are much better now.

Was sure surprised that Hornady didn't design the seater die better. Their dies are usually great.

Good luck.

The hornady seating die I had would put a dimple ring all the way around the bullet about 1/4 of an inch from the tip. It went into the trash bin and was replaced with a Dillon set.

That was the first place I looked, I couldn't find any loads listed as slow enough.

you can look at loads for .45 ACP and or .44 special/mag to find a reasonable load

many blackout loads are similar to those

Good luck.

I reworked a extra seater for my RCBS die set for the Barnes 110 gr TSX

the ogive/profile is so narrow the regular seater just will not even get close to centered

badzero,

Ramshot powders has got several listed, though with bullets heavier than 180gr.

Most of their subsonic loads start at 200+gr.

That seems to be the case with everyone. However if gemtech can do it with a 187gr I can't see why 7 grs would be a deal breaker.

and once you stop using Google to search you start getting results.

I have used 8.5 grains of 2400 and 11.6 grains of reloader 7 for 168 grain subsonic with a 16" barrel. You would need to increase these a bit for 180's with an 8".

These are the two best performers for me, using quickload.

The Hornady 8th book has some loads. Note that the starting load is 1200 fps so you would only need to go down a little bit from those listed.

Someday I'll get time to sit down at the bench and give it a shot.

I've been using 9.5 gr. of H110 and getting approx. 1,060fps with those bullets. That was from a 8.5" barrel.
