Bought a pre-ban 91 today

Looks like new and unfired. Always wanted one. Case, sling, manual, six mags. Date code IK (1989?) I'm closing out my wish list. I picked up a Browning 1895 (made in 1984) and a Stoeger Coach Gun last winter. Still looking for a Browning or Win 1886 in 45-70. Then I'm pretty much done.

Congrats on the 91 but don't kid yourself, gun guys are never "done."

I scored a 91 barreled receiver on GB and bought a parts kit from HKParts.net. It's at IGF for assembly, installation of a paddle magazine release, and refinish.

I love the 91's-I have a GP assembled G3 clone on a PTR receiver and a GP done 91k on a Greek SAR 8. They're addictive-next step will probably be a 51 clone.

Wonderful weapon and would be one that if you ever needed it would never let you down. I sure love my HK date code 91 i know that.

I bought my first HK91 in the spring of 1979 for $379. Ah - the good old days!

Neat post. Anyone know how many HK91 A4's with the polygonal barrel exist?

So your that guy.

I was going to get in on it.

But, I was distracted with work and it ended.

Good grab.

Funny thing is another one popped up within the week, then a SR9 one a week after that. I wasn't planning on buying anything, but that was too good to pass up. Eventually it will come back from IGF and I won't be afraid to shoot it because the metal had a bunch of surface pitting. Won't affect the shooting, just make it ugly.

Of the many, many rds I have put through 91s I only had one malfunction.

Some Israeli mil surp. lot 10-80 TZ headstamp. Primer blew out the back of the casing and flattened against the bolt face. Obviously the 91 stopped cycling till I peeled the primer off the bolt face and changed ammo. No injuries or damage to the gun. Other than that never a hick up and of course it was not a gun issue it was an ammo issue.

Dean Ive had similar issues with some groady Izzi 7.62X51 in years past. Had to pull every one of them and replace the primers. This was surplus ammo from Masada, I think, it was old and nasty. NOT IMI stuff... Changing out the primers made a big difference.
Also had a Port 91 NEW parts kit built on a PTR receiver a few years ago by one of the gentlemen in Az.. Nice looking and seems to shoot well.. Not like my FAL of course but you know...

I got a NIB 91 around the same time for $450. Shot it a couple of times and disliked it so intensely that I sold it a few months later - for $450.

I want to regret not keeping it, but............
