Vortex Strike Eagle

Anyone find any deals on the 1X8 Strike Eagle? Best I found was Optics Planet for slightly over $400 with mount.

My LGS has them for $350 but that really doesn’t help you to much.

Have you tried Gunz N Fun in Greenville. He carries Vortex optics.

$400 with a mount seems like a pretty good deal to me, depending on the mount.

$338.00 is the best I could come up with, scope only, but from the same source. Also with a mount, but they want $130 for the mount. Must be the fancy one.

If you're a Vet, you might get a couple extra bucks off to boot.

Midway has their AR Stoner cantilever mounts in 1", 30mm and 34mm on clearance for $48.99 currently. Have one on another rifle which has been rock solid, very similar to Vortex except rounded opposed to sharp corners on rings. Was needing to resupply my scope mount supply as good mounts and glass seem to double cost of builds. Lately been nailing scopes down with whatever could dig from parts locker so dropped cost of an entry level rifle in resupplying my mount inventory. Sure I will be pulling a few recent builds and replacing mounts.

Also found some front anti reflection "flashkill" scope covers for under $20 and loaded up to add to the tacticool overweight armchair warrior persona as been really worried about someone arming the local coyote and ground hog population but mostly for range use as add huge street cred with all the other fat old guys in full camo and load bearing vests at a public range. Looking tacticool is more important than actual ability to place rounds on target from what it seems these days.

Vortex has two versions of the Strike Eagle 1 by scopes. Without digging through my safe, I believe the 1X6 SE is the one for 22LR and the reticle adjustment is metered for 50 yds. The 1X8 is the one for centerfire. Both are good scopes and have one of each mounted to the correct rifles, both of AR design.

Just verify which is which before ordering.

Nope, the 1-6X SE is just an earlier version than the 1-8X and is equipped with an "AR-BDC" reticle regulated to 5.56 and 7.62 trajectories.
Parallax Setting is at 100 yards.

Have at least eight, maybe ten or more of the 1-6x Strike Eagles due to dead solid performance, lifetime warranty and price. Regularly find them at $229 and scored some Black Friday units last year for $199 each. Have beat the crap out of three and while not the clarity of my Vortex Viper PST 1-4x or Viper PST II 1-6x, for the cash invested if cranking out builds that will mostly be gifted at some point the Vortex 1-6x is my most used poodle shooter scope. The Viper PST II has a $100 gift card attached at Midway currently and is very fairly priced in the 1-6x, 3-15x and 2-10x. If funds allow hope to put a 2-10x PST II in the fleet before the gift card and free shipping goes away.

With the Vortex Viper 1-8x being the new kid on the block seems to me pricing is being held a little high and will wait till after Christmas to see if any sales pop up on it when folks need to reduce invemtory. I did pop on a Vortex Viper PST 5-25x last year to go on one of my 6XC's and next to the March 5-25x (older out of production model) on one of my 7mm Practical turn bolts except at twilight where the huge 56mm objective of the March or really bad mirage and double the price of the Vortex 5-25x does the March show any advantage. Really want one of the new March 2.5-25x or 5-50x tactical models but $3,000 scopes are not something will be chasing often in the near future. Going from two income to single income household does have its concessions but it's not like am having to slum with $129 Nikons.

I like kill-flashes for two reasons: provides a little bit of a sunshade effect without having to screw on a dedicated sunshade (most optics don't have that capacity), and it adds another layer of protection for the objective lens.

That deal includes the mount. The mount is on sale by itself for $30.

Last year I waited until Christmas before I bought any larger dollar items and found that I should have bought during Black Friday sales and I have read that this usually is the case for the better prices.

You are correct sir. I just checked mine and it was a Crossfire, not a Strike Eagle. Both my SE are on centerfire rifles.

Actually, I don't think that most of the Vortex Crossfire scopes are designed for use on .22LR rifles either (although they would certainly work OK for that, recognizing the potential parralax issue).

I have a couple of the 1-4x24 ones on ARs...

I just bought a 1X8 Strike Eagle from these guys for 335.14. You take 16% off of $399 and you get a free mount.

I stopped by the LGS to check out the Strike Eagle scopes and see what they came with. As I looked closer at them they are the older 1-6 power version, so I didn’t even bother asking.

My Crossfire II is specifically designed for the 22LR. It is the 2X7X32 model with the parallax set at 50 yds. The reticle adjustments are also configured for ¼ MOA at 50 yds. It is a 1 inch tube, not a 30 mm one. Works great on my dedicated 22LR AR I built.

Glad that it's working well for you.

I currently have three Crossfire II 1-4x24mm scopes that are designed for high-power rifles on 5.56mm ARs that are also working great for me.

My point was only that the Vortex Crossfire scopes are not all designed for .22LR applications...

For the record though I have the 1-8x Primary Arms and love it.
