SN, good to hear you ARE making progress. Keep at it.

TR, wear something FAL related so we all can see you. Something like your chest painted "Go Vikes, are you FN crazy?"

Hang in there Sportsnut!

Mom went in for surgery Tuesday (knee replacement) and she hasn't been able to come yet. They moved her to a longer care facility yesterday because she still can't stand on it due to excessive pain. Hoping she can come home Sunday.

Sorry to hear that.

The first 3 weeks were a nightmare for me with constant terrible pain 24/7
I'm not a fan of pain meds but ya gotta stay on schedule with them and make sure she doesn't miss any of her scheduled times to take them. If you miss them or don't take them on your scheduled time you just dig yourself in a big hole and then it's an even more painful time while playing catch up.

Did your mom make it home yet? I won't even ask how she is feeling as I'm pretty sure I know just how she feels...

Went and saw her today (I've been visiting her every day) and it looks like she may come home Thursday. She really wants to come home but as was told to her, better to stay there a couple more days than have issues and have to go back.
Thanks for asking!
I hope you are improving man. We look forward to seeing you at another shoot soon. I will make a special effort to find some fluorescent green safety glasses for you to wear

Keep doing that PT

Mom is home now and using the walker all over her house. We had presence of mind to set everything up before her surgery and she made a bunch of frozen meals she could easily fix. She's doing ok so far. Much happier to be at home.

Good deal. Yes it's vital to have the house set up for her.

Here is my mess today 9 weeks post surgery.

The physical therapist was happy with my latest measurement today of 115* on the bend. Not great but an improvement of 5-6 degrees since last session. Hopefully as long as improvement is made it will keep me from going under the knife again.
Two and a half weeks ago my bend was at 101* and although i'm not where they would like I am going in the right direction.
Ron,

Here's to you having a full recovery! I'm in the same exact situation as you are. I had my total left knee replacement Oct 1st, and I'm at 101-103* bend and can't seem to get it to go past that point without causing a lot of pain in the muscles around the joint.

Can you please tell me what kind of exercise or stretching that you are doing to get it to bend more?

Thanks,

Doug

Doug,

Sorry to hear that, and I can totally relate to your pain and misery. Have you had the knee worked on in the past?
My surgeon is blaming my slow recovery on the amount of scar tissue that has occurred do to all the extra trauma that went on with the removal of hardware and ligament damage that was from a total knee reconstruction I had years ago.

I have been doing a lot of my therapy in a salt water pool. Basically high step {marching} walking forward, backwards and side stepping. I also use a stationary sit down bicycle peddeling in a reverse motion.

The best stretching I have found for the knee itself is sitting in a chair and pulling my leg back as far as it will go then lean forward with your upper body. You will feel the stretch as soon as you move your upper body forward.

I hope this helps and I wish you a good recovery.

Ron
