Oklahoma Run N Gun Winter 2019

Run date 1/19/19
5K, 10K, 20K

Com-Bloc Challenge - trophy for best 10K with a commie rifle (see rules at www.okrunngun.com)

We're going to do a team challenge also - 35 dollar entry per team, all proceeds go to Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Here's the rules:

Pick a partner for your "team". Both runners must be 10K. (If one runner is doing more than one 10k, they may use the best of their 10k score, but it must come from the same 10k loop)

Pay 35 dollar Team Challenge fee. I pick Hensch for my team.

I run at whatever allotted time I get, Hensch does the same. May even be one of us runs Friday, the other Saturday, doesn't matter.

At the end of Saturday, Becca gives you your score - one for run time, one for shoot. (you already get this, so Becca doesn't have to do any extra work!)

Get with your partner, look at your scores, pick the best run time, and the best shoot score, but they can't be from the same team member. Total score, divide by two, that's your team score.

Best team score gets a trophy and bragging rights. All money from the Team Challenge will go to the Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Deer chili is on the menu, and my buddy from Louisiana is gonna bring the boudin. Who's in?

I’m seriously ponderin’ giving this a go. Anybody running a FAL, or e’rybody going commie?

Pretty sure I can be 5k ready by January, not sure about about 10k ready though. May be a challenge I need...

You'll see at least one mine.

My plan is the 20K.

FAL first, then AK.

I'm doing the 20K, too. I thought I was going to do the AK first in an effort to max my score (be less tired), and then do the FAL because I'm stupid.

That seems like a good plan.

Seeing you and Jimmy are teamed up.

I've never run this before but I am planning to do this one. Would an AK without any optics be competitive or are there some long range shots that would take an AK with iron sights out of the competition?

There will be a 500 yard shot.

There will be multiple 200-300 yard shots.

I'm not involved in any of the planning: just going on what I've encountered in the past.

So took the Commie Pinko rifle out to give it a run with some rapid groups. 100yards, off bag, 15rd groups (except for the American Eagle, only had 9rds) from one magazine, all shot rapid with no breaks in between shots.

Last picture on steel target is 200 yards 10rd group with the Hornady Black.

Haven’t done a full up gear run since Legion and haven’t done anything with the Commie Pinko rifle other than sighting in, so figured it was time. 5k of running, 4 stages, ranges 15-100 yds.

Took the Yugo NPAP M70 and the M&P9 out for 5K of RNG practice for the upcoming Toys for Tots 5K Run N Gun Dec 1st at Bluegrass Sportsmen's League in Wilmore KY and then Okie Winter Combloc RNG. Pistol SUCKED!!!! (my skills) but rifle did well even with using a variable collection of the crap ammo I had left over form the last few months of sighting it in. There was everything from Wolf, S&B, Tul, Fiocchi, etc... in those four magazines. Just really out to check function and carry during the run.

Spetsnaz, Ninja, Tomato, Potatoe....

I’m not “competing” for the Commie Pinko trophy just running for the spirit of the guvment of Maryland and Portland. My old eyes cannot use irons anymore, especially on shorter carbines.

My buddy Dan (the other half of RNG) lost his dad Phil last week. Y'all probably have met Phil at the Run N Guns, he never missed one. (he ran, and RO'd) He was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, and really fought it hard. He was a great guy, and will be sorely missed.

A memorial for Phil will be held at the Stillwater Bible Church on 11/21 at 1PM.

Can I have Phil's last name (via PM if you prefer)

I would like to add him to my walk-for list for Relay-for-Life.

Phil Hensch. - Thanks, Bruce.

Dan posted on OKFAO yesterday - saying basically:
"If you're worried about RNG, remember a 68 year old man with Stage 4 cancer did it. Cowboy TF up."

I agree with his statement.

RNG update:

Getting the important stuff done. S&M BBQ is on cue again, they'll have cauldrons of chili simmering on the smoker, as well as boudin brought to us from Louisiana by my buddy Allen. T-shirts are at the printers, trophies are being made as we speak.
Dan and I plan on setting the range up right after New Year's, even we don't know exactly what it will look like, just basic round count and general distances. (so have at it, gamers!)

We have had a colder than usual fall, and right now Oklahoma is a mudhole. I am really hoping for nice weather, but as always...it's a crapshoot.
