RobArms considering bringing back the M96

Ok I've been pestering RobArms about bringing back the M96, or at least making spare parts available and the conversion parts for the various configurations, and encouraging a belt feed option, sighting that even FN is selling Semiauto M249s.
Today the put up a face book post trying to get feed back on bringing back the M96. That point toward a strong possibility if the interest is there.
I know many of you don't FB, but for those of you that do here is the link:

I don't post on facebock but my answer to the stated question would be less than a SCAR, but more than an AR.

if priced accordingly the timing could be right. Retro is still a thing, AKs have gone up in cost and down in availability, ARs are boring, word of mouth is stronger than the first release.

They couldent produce one in a frackin decade of promises of 'just another year',,,for a ton of early buyers who asked them continuously for one....
Their going to do it now

Personally,,,I think my odd's are better at laying a cover girl, hitting the lottery and getting struck by lightning,,,,in the same day...

They made a ton of them,.....they just never made the beltfed version. Personally I couldn't have cared less about that. Would have liked to have had the Bren version but that didn't happen either,....at least not enough of them to have seen one in the flesh. I did have a 96 and later a Recon. I miss the Recon.

Remember, all of this was during the AWB and nobody expected the AWB to sunset. That put a real damper on what they could do that made economic sense. Beltfed semi is really kind of a stupid item for a niche market. The Ares Shrike never would have sold enough units to be profitable if it hadn't been for all the registered lowers, DIASs and links. There just aren't enough people around to spend the money if it's 'only' a semi like the M96, especially if you're limited to 10 links in a belt. And when everyone has a closet full of pre-ban 30rd mags, what's the point?

Now, well, the beltfed is still somewhat stupid because other than the link situation and the fact that you can put a real FH on it, nothing much has changed. It'd be cool for the guy who already has everything else, no doubt.

yup, made 2 generations of them, but skimped on the parts, support. the original product really is a product of the AWB.
I'd like a post ban barrel, and carbine option. Now we could have a folder that resembles the Stoners. I'd like to pick up some spare parts so I can shoot the rifle more, it really is a sweet shooter.
I wouldn't have the M96 as my SHTF rifle, in any guise, I've got other stuff for that. I think we all own less than practical rifles that just fulfill an itch. For me I know I'll never have a real FA Mk23, but if a M96 with belt feed, even in semi gets me close, its probably the only belt feed semi I'd crave.

They ought to make it in some 6.5 caliber. Bypass .223 altogether.

Its got quick change barrel, so you're not married to any one caliber.

Unlike other companies, Robinson actually has conversion kits for other cartridges available, at least for the XCR-L and -M.

Always liked the later production sight ears like these- makes it look just a little more like a Stoner.

If its available in 300 blackout I'm interested. My respect for the 5.56 has gone way down since I started shooting steel gongs at 500 yards. You know when you've scored a hit with the 7.62 ;-)

Cool. I have also talked to Alex about this. I think if they keep the price around the CZ Bren 805 it should be OK, especially with caliber changes available. How about a stoner bipod?

I think it would be most appealing if they Stoner 63'd it the best they could.

I have an earlier model gun that went through the recall and it runs well. I was able to pick up the "Recon" kit that had the 16" barrel and gas assembly for $400 back in 2005. I love the way a Norinco 120 Round AR drum sits in in, but some replica belt holders that had a mag in it would be fun. The box style could hold a beta C and the drum style a D-60 magazine

What was actually the last regular selling price for the M96?

Last MSRP I recall was $1599

Just for your information, I have some replacement Op-Rod springs available and can make replacement Op-Rods for the RECON model.

PM me for details . . .

I watched these come and go. I liked the Bren look and would be interested if introduced this time around.

I have some PMag 40's to give the rifle the Madsen LMG look. I don't know why, nor do I care, but damn it, I want a top-feed rifle.

Did the stainless gas tube come from Robinson? That set up looks awesome.

Those look like original Stoners, notice the charging handle at the bottom of the handguard.

This and a FNC are on my list (and have been for awhile due to availability and price).

The one on the top definitely is a real Stoner but was unsure about the bottom?

Pretty sure the bottom one is real too, look at the curve of the trigger guard, and the shape of the rib stamped into the lower.

Just got back from vacation and saw the new posts in the thread. Yes, they are both real Stoner 63s. I just used the images as reference for the belt holders.

I was excited when IMI was going to make a Galil for sale here, but then it turned out to not be old school so I passed. I almost bought a M96 before, but was tight on money at the time. Now I would buy one.

At $1,000, I believe they would fly off the shelves.
