Some pretty cool pics there.
Funny that the Belgian Type III's look like the "Type 2.5" Argies, with the lightening cut at the bottom rear of the upper.

That's because they are. I am very skeptical that the Belgians ever built a short gas system para, as well.

The last one is more than a little misleading too, eh whot?

Did Chile build their own? I thought they bought IMBELs from Brazil, that being the source of many of our IMBEL kits.

Speaking of the "real world" and the misleading paras, I seem to find there is a lot of opinions as to which model is which and what the determining features are. Will someone please provide this data for the following if they all actually exist?

Chile got the first ones from FN and supplimented from Imbel later. Imbel and FNM (Argentina) supplied a lot of rifles to second time FAL buyers in south american.

Interesting how the early model Israeli had 2 handguard spacers, but the late model had only 1.

I remember slr-5000 posting a pic of him holding an f2a2. I think it was at the lithgow museum but that might be wrong.

The US made Holloway HAC7 is a joke of course.
Missing is the more popluar AR180 (AR18) made by Armalite, Costa Mesa.

Actually, the way I see the picture, looks like there's a slot there and the spacer is MIA.

You are correct. A pic showing SLR-5000 and the F2A2 at the Lithgow Museum has appeared on the Files. Here is my pic of this gun I took last month:

Both the rifle pictured at the top and the one Slo Cat et al (including myslef) have posted of are missing the correct rear sight (not the height of the front sight compared to that of the standard L1A1 sight. There were not enough of these made to consider them as anything but experimental.

Not also in the top pic how small the L1A1F1 appears in comparison to the standard rifle.

rcnpthfndr - good to see you back around mate, hope all is going well.

You've never heard of a HAC7? They were made in Fort Worth Texas by the HOLLOWAY ARMS COMAPNY. Bob Holloway took what he considered the best of the AK, FAL and AR and combined them into one gun. The caliber is .308.

They sell for about $3000.00 beacuse they are extremely rare. The most rare of the one that he made is the left hand version. I would give my left arm for one of them.

I had the pleasure of going through his factory when I had my FFL.
I don't remeber why hhe went out of business.

As a FFL dealer myself when the short lived HAC7 was on the market, the reviews were less than positive for the selling price and I do not believe too many current firearms enthusiasts are willing to now spend 3K on any Holloway versus a Belgium FAL or any other market $3000 valued firearm. Just my opinion.

The HAC7 and variants were short lived as the demand was not there. You should remember during that time frame several semi-auto assault type imports were entering the country, flooding the market and the Holloway like the Quality Arms- Bushmaster "J" series were domestically made and lacked a military heritage as did Colt, FN, Valmet, Galil, H&K, SIG and others.

There are a few errors in the otherwise interesting pix.
Designationwise, here goes.
50.61 533mm para, steel lower, standard cocking handle, flip type two position rear sight
50.62 Never heard of this designation being used.
50.63 458mm or 436 mm barrel, folding cocking handle, one position "Holland" rear sight, generally did not have carry handle or bolt hold open, although I believe there were some variations on these items depending on the purchasing countrys' requirements
50.64 as 50.61, but with "Hiduminium" ( aluminum alloy ) lower.

The Izzy pic shows a "late" and "later" variant, if you will. The earliest variants utilized T48 type HGs, wood PGs and carry handle, type A lowers and stocks. Izzy FALs were issued with ONE spacer, Many had the second spacer added later although it was, to my knowledge, never officially specified.

The Belgian 50.41 pic is actually a 50.42 as it has the wood stock.

Neither Chile nor Venezuela ever produced their own FALs. Venezuela was licensed to do so, but never did, IIRC.

Thank you for the breakdown. There is no 50.62, just two varieties of the 50.63.
