Beautiful, congratulations! I've owned a 7mm and a couple 8mm's. Pictures look great. What camera?
I'm up by the Adirondacks of NY, far from Albany or NYC but still commie territory. |

![]() somewhere between $1400 and $2000 seems average, but ive seen them go for even more at auctions. Took me MONTHS to find one and some folks have spent years...........seems folks dont want to let them go. HUMmm--- Ok I figured they were -UP -there,, Im actually an Opportunity collector ,,I buy something if it is a nice piece and priced right . Thinking I paid like $350 for the 8mm and 250% for the 7 and 450$ for the 06 EDIT--were the 308's /7.62x51 rifles made as such -OR were they retrofits from something else..Im thinking they stopped making FN-49's before they developed 7.62 ammo??????????? |

You are correct - they were retrofit. See my link above.

But not sloppy retrofits, new barrels and other small parts if I remember correctly.
USMA you did great at that price........sometimes great deals pop up like that. Im in mine for about $940. Mines got some importer chickenscratch on the muzzle end of the barrel "NCO" or something. Its only paint deep.......which tells me they either appreciated not greatly defacing the rifle or were just really lazy that day. |

Good luck with that! My understanding is that they were almost COMPLETELY converted to 7.62 NATO. you might find a 7.65 Argentine model in a museum somewhere, but not in the open market.
