Nice rifle wanted

WTB: After 30 years of marriage, I bought the bride a new diamond. She wants to buy me a special gun. $2500ish. I’d like a quality Rhodesian repro. Or a nice quality FAL. Any suggestions?

Whatever you get for that price, definitely should be real nice. Unless the seller is a douche bag.

Plenty of those here these days at that price.

Look for a nice Ruger No. 1 if you want a dangerous game-type rifle. Available in some very powerful calibers and A LOT of fun to shoot.

Mark Graham (GunPlmber) has repo Rhodies, which would leave you plenty for an exceptional FAL.

Take your time on the FAL; exceptional specimens do come-up, from time to time.

Congrats on 30 years !!

Graham.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. And they have been test fired at the factory. Mine has the target

Well, today my wife surprised me with all my kids present with a 1944 M1 Garand. It is a gorgeous rifle. Beyond anything that i would have found. My grown boys found it for her. The best thing. She still wants me to by a gun or a few... up to $10,000. So Im at a loss what to buy. this may take some time to think... I'll probably buy a nice fal or pre band ak47.... I would really like a nice rhody clone.

After my last cancer surgery, for my 1 year cancer free anniversary, my wife surprised me with a m1927a1 Tommy!
Our anniversary is 02/25; for our 20th, she got me a Sig 225 (p6)
We will be celebrating our 25th next February.

The fact you have made it 5 years cancer free makes you the big winner in all aspects.....been there (not as long as you) and recently went through it again.....gotta love girls/wives who are your mainstream support at times like this !!

Congrats !!!

Hope you're not the one that bought it as unmolested. The photos are revealing enough to be sure an in-hand review would disappoint. Great job passing it as such to the seller, too bad if the buyer wanted an honest representation. That's GunJoker, stretch the description as far as it'll go and recirculate till some rube pops in and plunks Benjamins.

Have you seen a Rhodie in person? They were ridden hard and put up wet. The pricing on them is crazy high IMHO.

Be patient.... find a Belgian 50.00. May run you a little more but in the long run it's a safer investment.

Or buy a SCAR 17

YMMV

The SCAR is a start to a nice weapon. Out of the box kind of bland, but not much to make it go real fine. The authentic FAL Belgian will appreciate, the repro mebbe, mebbe not. If you are in the repro market, lower your price point a bit and get a shooter first. Then decide if the weapon style is really for you. What a waste to just start wildly into FAL money first; many come, not that many stay the full course over time.

+1 for a nice, clean 50.00. Not sure you can get into one for $2500 these days but it sure comes close.

So, you've got a $10K ceiling? Man, you can get some nice toys at that level.

You should be able to find (say) a GunSouth 50.00 Type III which has been fired but still in really good original condition for under $4000...it's all about the condition.

Over the past few years, I've seen unmolested, un-fired in 99% condition, selling for $5000 or so.

About 5 or 6 months ago, I happened upon a GunSouth 50.00 Type III which was located about a 2 hour drive from me. The claim was it was un-fired and the seller was selling it for the widow of a friend, who purchased it in 1984 and had been kept in his safe ever since. He had it on GB for $4000; so I took the opportunity to take a drive, whereby I could put my eyes & hands on it, prior to forking over $$$$.

When I inspected it, I didn't ask any questions and felt I got a really good deal at the price.

So, they are out there !!
