Early FN/BGS screw vs G1

I searched around for nearly an hour and never found a pic of an early FN metal hand guard screw so I took one. On the left, later G1 screw. On the right, early FN/BGS metal hand guard screw.
I have no idea which screw the BGS model C (early G1 model) used. One could assume that by the time the BGS model C was adopted and renamed Gewehr 1 by the Germans, the screw shown would have been used. I have not been able to determine if that were the case or not. It's entirely possible the late screw was used on the BGS C horse shoe hand guards from their very introduction.
The reduced diameter area near the head on the G1 screw is for a retainer ring/spring that captured the screw in the hole of the right side panel so the screw could not be lost when disassembled.
