The Chinese are very involved now with Africa and good reason for it as they need food and raw materials to support their own economy. They also have plenty of spare men to send to Africa and they are, even encouraging marriages with local women.
The Chinese are also heavily involved in the Sudan. That gives them a base to help them shut down the Suez Canal if they have to. They are also heavily involved in Panama widening that canal also.

The Chinese know the value of crop land. Here in the US it is only good for the developers to build houses on cheaply. Ask yourself, "Where does YOUR food come from?"! Now, "Where will it come from TOMORROW?".

See there, you say you were 21 when you had bad bob in your sights.
And then your second post says that you hadn't deployed in 5 years,

This was the first time I had been deployed after Vietnam and Israel in 73.

A mistake, or a lie, or you deployed to Vietnam at 12 and Israel at 15. Not really any other way to play that math.

The next time I hear "THE RANGE IS NOW HOT", it just wont be the same.

Max tried another question. "What sort of people live about here?"
"In THAT direction," the Jin said, waving its right paw round, "lives a Han: And in THAT direction," waving the other paw, "lives a Ming Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad."
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Max remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Jin: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Max.
"You must be," said the Jin, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Hopefully that comes next...after the new government forms and their new dictator comes to power.

Bye-bye Bobby!

Hey is that old ZA marked ZIMBEL FAL worth more as a relic of Mugabe's reign of terror?

So you joined in 1970, deployed to Vietnam, then again to Israel in 1973, then to Africa in 1978 (as a “hunter/sniper” with a “Company” spotter making direct radio calls to DC), you make a statment in your intitial post about “being tired of pulling the trigger” in this capacity (which is roughly 8 years of combat service deployments), and you make a “drinking tequila mistake” about being under 21 in your description of a scenery that would have been a worldwide pivotal moment in time?

Sorry, but there is no amount of alcohol that is going to make someone of this caliber disregard 7+ years of service in these campaigns or within the nature of which you describe what you claim to have done!

Have you ever shot someone with a scoped rifle? I ask as it is one thing to fire and watch them fall in combat without a scope, but it is an entirely different thing to see their expression change when the bullet hits. Do it enough and you do not sleep well anymore unless you are a total psychopath.

What some of us try to do is try and help the follow up generations NOT make the same mistakes as we have serving a government that is not perfect and blameless. I will say it is a hell of a lot better than most, but it does 'play' just like a bunch of others in the world. Better to learn that on the internet than out in the mud watching friends and Brothers dying around you.

^^^ +1

I just don't care about the claims, math, or especially the bickering that followed.

Let it go.
