I've been pondering...
...are we so close to the economic abyss or other Earth shattering, era changing events that they are fast tracking the gun control agenda to get as many off the streets as soon as possible?
Look at the horrendous NY restriction to 7 rounds and the immediacy with which they're pushing the bill. Maybe we have until summer, and then it's tits up for a good portion of us. |

Sure looks that way - lots of urgency on this though they would explain it as striking while the iron is hot considering Americans attention span.

Well I think the economic collapse is always eminent in the current propped up house of cards,,,,, but any laws they pass aren't going to make one bit of difference at this point.
Not with 300 million guns floating around. Anyone that is attempting to arm up and become proficient enough to matter, has done so a long time ago. On the other hand, those massive Homeland Security ammo purchases are definitely getting ready. ............juanni

I honestly think most of the politicians are too incompetent to know anything about an economic abyss. Most of them think we can raise the debt limit and go on indefinitely. In order to get elected, they need to know how to connect with people's emotions and make them feel good. Connecting with mathematics or economics just isn't what they are good at.

I think the boys on top know what's coming, they've just been getting set up and looking for the upper hand.

Seems to me obama lives from one crisis to the next and uses all of them to take our freedom and/or money.

Wasn't something along those lines the real "need" behind the first big gun control push in the UK back in the early 1900s? I can recall it was not crime rates, but can't recall the real issue.

I've been doing some pondering myself-I don't think there will be an economic abyss anytime soon.
Listening to that f*ckstain Krugman tells me that they have all sorts of ways yet to prolong the inevitable. The gun control fiasco is simply about more power and control-it is inevitable as we march forward and lose freedoms every year. The State wants to grow and expand, and does so no matter which side of the coin holds power. There is no way to change things at the ballot box-we know that and they know that,so the next logical step is to start removing all forms of resistance from the peasantry. Interesting times.

OP: The answer is yes.
I don't think they have the financial skills to really understand what is going on- that paying down our debt requires an end to QE with a consequential rise in interest rates which would then may repayment of our foreign-held debt all but impossible. Nonetheless, they do have plenty of Wall Street guys who have seen the numbers that are non-public and have surely come to this conclusion. We are in the phase where they are trying to keep us afloat, but are starting to understand that it can't go on indefinitely. They just don't want to be standing when the music stops. And they don't want people armed when the music stops. |
