Source for HS mags ??
I've got a nice Supermatic Citation on hold at the local fun shop ( background check system is down
) but I'm going to need spare mags. I've heard the Hi Standards can be finicky so I'm hoping to eliminate or at least minimize any probs by getting some quality spares. Also looking for a source for good Browning Challenger II mags - I don't think Buckmark mags will work in the CIIs ?

I have 2 High Standard, Supermatic, 103's ... I have 7 mags between the 2 ... I'll see if I can spare one ... the good ones are hard to find and expensive ... bad reports on the "new" HS mags ...
... we just can't do it like we used to ... what a fu@kin' shame ... !!!!!!!Great old pistols, made by skilled people, that actually cared ... and it's just an old .22 pistol ... go figure ... rant off, and my apology J. .................. ![]() ETA: See Mike ... we do like some of the same stuff ... don't hate me please ...

Well, gents, this is gonna be a keeper, so keep me in mind if you see any anound later down the road. I'm thinking ultimately I want a minimun of 4 spares, I'd be happier with 6 or more.
Also looking for Browning Challenger II mags. Does anybody know if Buckmark Mags will work ? I'm thinking not, but haven't had a chance to do a close comparison yet.

Ouch!! I just sold a couple of them on Gun Broker. New and old. There was a fellow that ran a little add section, like 1/32 page for several years in Shotgun News that sold excellent quality Hi Standard mags.

Keep an eye on Fleabay. They're "allowing" gun parts again & I've snagged a few good deals lately.

I have had some success with cheaper than dirt mags. I own sever HS pistols and as such have several types of mags, seems they changed mag design almost yearly. The problem is mostly in latching correctly on the duramatic models. Most others work very well indeed.

HS mags are fun. I have a Duramatic and a H-D Military. The H-D mags fit and function in the Dura, but the Dura won't fit in the H-D.
And from what I've seen of the new stuff, I won't buy any unless I have the gun with me and can test fit it.

Got two so far - they seem to show up on ebay with some regularity - I just haven't been willing ( yet !!! ) to go $60+ for 'em !
I'm going to give the ones I got a good test, then I'm figuring a couple more - I'm figuring a half dozen spares is a good number at least to start !!!

Triple K is OEM for Hi-Standard these days. I have not had good luck with older Triple K in other types of guns in the past. But apparently, they managed to do it right with the new Hi-Standard mags. I've been using the new Triple K mags in my Victor and the wife's Dura-Matic 101 for about 18 months now and had no problems.
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ItemL...spx?catid=6653 If you do not know how to tweak H-S mag lips, it doesn't matter what kind of mags you get, you will eventually have problems. Here is an excellent article on H-S mags. http://www.histandard.info/datapubli...WDmagazine.pdf

Good info. I knew that previous Triple Ks had problems, good to know they are now a viable option.
You know, I really want to like my "new" (to me) Supermatic Citation, but this mag tweaking stuff is a real nuisance. My beloved Browning Challenger II never needed it, nor did my old Woodsman or Rugers. I think the HS may end up a safe queen.

Thanks, jugs, sure do appreciate the offer, but I've got one on the way. I'm sure I'll get her whooped into shape, although I understand the mags may need different tweaks for different ammo. Geez !!!
