On the MOLLE assault pack do you mean specifically the assault pack issued with MOLLE I, II, III, IV (or however the break down goes) or any pack featuring PALS? If the latter, what features/size do you want?

cross draw
On the vest I would like a cross draw holster and magazine holder some fal mag holders. On the assault pack something to go with a molle II pack, or any suggestions you might have for being "away" for a while.

BDS Tactical is where I got my rig. I put it together and they built it. Not cheap, but worth the money IMHO.
I am very happy with I got for my money spent. http://www.bdstacticalgear.com/

I would highly recomend a molle platform vest, the full front and back. The USGI fighting load carrier is a good choice if your gear will all be up front. Honestly a simple two piece plate carrier(condor makes a relatively inexpensive one) is an economical choice. Obviously you will need to add your pouches, but crossdraw holsters or adapters for the molle system are available. Then add your pouches of choice. The problem with a stitch down vest is that you are stuck with the set up. I have set up many vests over the years, and gear placement is critical. With molle platform you can move your poches around until everything is where it needs to be. It will cost more than a stitch down crossdraw vest if you buy it all new, but it will pay for itself. Also another benefit of the molle platform is you can change your pouches to suit your rifle caliber etc. Ebay is a good place to look for used discounted gear. Here's the condor

Loads of new & used MOLLE assault packs on ebay in every color it has been made in as well as most surplus shops. Had a woodland camo one for awhile and best I can recall it isn't quite tall enough to really take a Camelbak in it(think I was using a 3 litre at the time) if that is an issue. Ended up sticking with Camelbak, Kelty, & Kifaru packs after that, although I did pick up and still have one of the ACU MOLLE packs because I wanted to try the newer frames.
