New Mexico getting fugged
It would make it a crime to sell a firearm without conducting a background check. Federally licensed firearms dealers already must conduct background checks.
But the proposal would apply to private transactions between individuals – such as sales between friends, family members or strangers who meet up through a classified ad. Under the bill, supporters say, individuals who want to sell a gun would go to a licensed dealer and pay to have the background check done there." https://www.abqjournal.com/1274868/s...heck-bill.html This is the same law Bloomberg paid a million to our governor to get passed in oregon. If it comes to pass then there are things you should do before it does.

Yep, here comes the lack of "common sense". Wait till they get rolling. This is just to test the waters. NM can expect mag limits and "assault rifle" ban. Governor has said so.

If you are sure the new law is comming where you have to register all guns you sell then look to the date the law takes affect. Everything bought after will have a paper trail and everything bought before that date they can't prove when it changed hands.
Here in Oregon we are living with the law but we had a little help where we could do our own BC at a gunshow. $10 to do your own of $35 the dealer charges to do the paper work. Once they set a date you will have the disposition of the guns bought after that date on your record. Buy before the new law goes into affect.

That's how it's been here for awhile now.

The item here is paperwork. They know there are millions of weapons in law abiding hands. These are the easy ones to take. Just need to know where they are before "they" make their big move. I don't trust them one Iota. Liars from the get go.
NM is one of the states with the least gun laws. Guns not a big issue here so why the law? Show me the numbers that say the druggies are buying guns from Joe down the street. Just make sure you have a list of who is for you and who is against you. Support or donate accordingly. |

Always good to have stuff off the books.
In commiefukufornia,a firearm, used to be handguns only, is registered to you in perpetuity unless sold to another commiefornia resident. Sold on gb ,goes out of state. Still registered to you Sell to ffl who sells it out of state...still registered to you. So the fooked part is say you sold a handgun 20yrs ago to someone out if state and eventually it turns up in some shady shit, your name is attached eventually and honestlh,do we keep all records that long, barring moves, floods fires, etc destroying records... such bullshiiit |

I sold through an FFL to another state, it went through his books and the books of another FFL. I doubt they can say it was still my gun if the new owners uses it. Plus the new owner had to go through a BC in New York to get my target pistol.
I don't sell guns in my own state anymore because it gives the state money. I have a dealer put them on GB and ship them to an FFL.

Went to a SB party. One of the gentlemen there brought this situation up about our governor. Seems she has new bills lined up. What he showed me is her staff hires. Over half from outside New Mexico, most from Kalifornia. He also had documentation on a Lordsburg/border meeting with Congresswomen Small. He showed the locals( same folks that talked in the KOB video) were not allowed in and he had the names of folks bused in from Santa Fe. The chair maybe against the wall.

How do the socialists in government know WHEN you sold a particular firearm to an acquaintance if a required BC isn't done?

It is the fact it is a slipper slope and these folks know how to play the game. The fact that they are going to deciede on a "fee" tax whatever you want to call it that is serperate from a gross receipts tax is really dangerous in my opinion. Who sets the "fee". In reality NM is a lost cause. The death spiral article that came out in Forbes a few years back for the states put NM in the worse state. Since then NM has followed the article to a T. The thing is Kalifornia has screwed up there tax base so much that NM for the moment looks cheap. But in 5 years, you probably won't be sells your house in NM. Our new governor has cut drilling and said NM must use renewalbles. OK, how does that financially work? Tax electricity from a source that is already to high. Death by a 1000 cuts.

Every state that passed these laws has seen a dramatic fall in gun-related crime... right? Right? Hello, is this thing on????

Private sales still go on all the time in NYS, IMHO.
I avoid them, due to being on the governors "watch list" as I have been for some time. I would submit, that of all the guns in NYS, other than pistols which are registered, that 75% of all guns have gone thru unrecorded transfers since 2000. Shotguns, bolt guns, and Assault Weapons for sure, now get handled discreetly. People die, and guns move on to relatives, in state and out of state, who then sell them privately. There are only 43,000 assault weapons in NYS, owned by 23,000 persons. There are only 250,000 pistol owners in ALL OF NYS. WE HAVE A POPULATION OF 17 MILLION. Scofflaws? Not me; someone has to buy them legally, eh Gov? |

The key is going to be when the new law goes into effect. Anything bought before that date they have no idea if you still own it. Anything after the date the law goes into effect you may be asked to prove where it is. Here we can sell to family without a background check.

Gee, I go on a trip and I come back to koolaid land. This in a month after the they went back into secession. Several thoughts:
Our "governor" said she wants the magazines and rifles. Forewarned. These is "their" plan. Heaven help us in 2020 on a state level and national level. At the state level, I can see a way to help neutralize these critters, if we pick folks to run against these morons. Some NM dems are with us Sweetser out of Deming and three others. (I'm dropping Sweetser a check), especially if she holds out on Red flag. One thing to remember NM hasn't changed one iota since the range wars, graft and corruption is the state motto. http://savemyrights.com/new-mexico-g...red-flag-bill/ |
