Yeah, it's been like that for as long as I can remember, except the name of the threat with the nukes changes.

Luckily, it is always today.

See you next week.

I pack up and load the Suburban this weekend, then if the range is open I'll get more trigger time. The fire danger has been real high in my AO.

That's what I really love about the old dinosaur motorhome. It's been packed for weeks. Add rifles, perishables, potables, and we are on the road in an hour. Oh yeah... add $100 in gas.

Glad I filled up a couple weeks ago. It's now $3.10 a gallon here.

Brush511 Update

Just wanted you all to know that my wife is having gall bladder surgery Tues. (Prayers appreciated) and I might not be around as much as usual. The shoot will go on as planned. I may limit shooting to 200 yds. do to fire hazard. The good news is the heat wave is forecast to break with highs in the mid 70's and lows in the mid 40's by Thurs. The smoke cleared up considerably today and I hope this continues. See you next week.

I'm loading the rig today, anyone planning to do the "Blessed Build In The Shop Of Secret Squirrels" needs to let me know if I should bring locking shoulders and such.

Dave, Claire will be in our prayers for a quick recovery!

Rob or Dave- mind making a new post with the event schedule? Went nuts scrolling through the pages on my tiny phone last night at work. Not on the clock, of course...

In laws not in till the following weekend- looks like I have my partner locked down

Let me check and edit op if necessary. But I think it's Terry and Tuscan Raider's thing on Friday, then Drop 15 and the team shoot on Saturday, and the Milsurpmonkey business on Sunday morning.

Haha! The famous 'Dance of the flaming arseholes' Been there. Done that. Got the burns. I think it's quite impressive they managed to shock the Danish sappers, who are themselves, top notch hooligans.

WooHoo, Been out working on the dinosaur this morning and finally got the refrigerator to run on gas. That should be a bunch less generator time. But a word of warning... If you guys want coffee at 7am, it will be running at 6:15.

Well, mostly loaded up, just need to load the toys, food, water and goodies. Got your Belgian para kit in a bag Otis, it goes together easy once you figure out the straps.

Since I have not been to Brush's property, what ranges can we set up targets?
I want to try one of my poodle poppers past 200 yards, if that is possible.

Got the invite to this thing by 12v837r8923789708947r089 or however you spell it.

Unfortunately, my stupid cousin is visiting from commiefornia, so even though i've long since left, California is still ruining my life.

On a lighter note, I've been dying to tell someone, anyone!

Fellow shooter wanted to sell me 10-15 old milsurp M14 mags, No opening the package, but theyre in oil soaked paper. They look old, and the paper has grown hard with dried cosmoline.

I offer him $100.00

I unwrap 7 Izzy metric mags, and 7 L1A1 mags.

If I were anyone else, I might be upset. Instead I'm through the roof with this false advertisement. I just wanted to share to some people who think this is as awesome as I do.

It's pretty dry. Might not get to go past 200.

Yep, that's gonna be Dave's call. Anything past the 200 yard targets would be a bitch for the fire truck even with 4 wheel drive. I was also informed over the last weekend I most likely will get a crash course in fire fighting techniques just in case something happens while he's not there.

The forecast is for lower temps and higher RH. I'm thinking about opening it up past 200 yds. We have target butts to 300 yds. and steel to 700.

Dave... Food for thought. Does Troy have a badass water truck that could soak the perimeter? Just thinking out loud.

On another note, Hoping and praying for the best tomorrow.

Just thinking the same thing. Any way to soak the ground underneath
the targets and to the left/right easily?

I will help with that Thursday afternoon.

Brush, tell the missus hi and will hug her soon.

Now I wish I had kept my old Mack water truck. 5,000 gallon tank on an old Mixer truck frame, I could blast a 1" stream of water 150 feet. Blew a cat off a fence once... Oopsie. But it would still have to be loaded with water somehow down there.

I'd bet by supper time, this lot could put a fire out with one combined stream.

Yeah. Just turn target areas to mud. Should be good for a day or so.

Yeah, how do I find this shindig? Just follow the banjo music and smell of scotch?

If possible, I don't have a build to do, but I would like to check the timing on one, I'm a thinking it may be a smidge off. I believe my timing sticks may be warped.

Mine are all a bit warped, came that way and noticed it when I was screwing in the front one. If that's the case on yours, screw it all the way down watching for the deviation, then back it out till it leans away from the breach end. I then made a mark on it with a Sharpie.

If one of you guys could bring down some head space gauges I'd like to re check mine. I've been dealing with some case life issues that I am sure is partly a surplus brass issue, but when I did the WECSOG headspace check with masking tape it appears that I was pretty loose which may have been contributing to some short case life/head separations

tbd59- I was playing around at the range and tried my hand at your 5 sec 100 yd challenge for fun while my wife timed me. Man that is tough! I think that will be a brisk event. I might be able to drop my ass in time but drop ass + make the shot is a whole other thing

Cool... You're bringing your banjo? You did an excellent performance in "Deliverance"...

It can be tough, but it is doable with good fundamentals.

Again, I hope this goes for several rounds of shooters.
