556 stuck op rod

Took my 556 to the range yesterday, ran maybe sixty rounds thru it. I'm ashamed to admit that I hadn't thoroughly cleaned it in a while so I tore into it this morning.

I couldn't separate the operating rod (piston) from the bolt carrier. A quick google search revealed that this is not an unheard of issue.

After I got it apart I ran down to the auto parts store and bought a tube of valve grinding compound. I "lapped" the op rod end to its pocket in the bolt carrier, took about five minutes. Felt much better and, after everything else was clean, I added a dab of hi-temp anti-seize to them before reassembly.

Just posting this in the event that someone else runs into this problem, offering a viable fix.
