For those that index their own barrels.

Just finished function testing three freshly barreled rifles this morning.
Had to share this pic of the first shot out of one of them at 50'. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's a whoopie moment for me.

That was the first round flyer. All the others will be off the paper.

I have had close to that happen a very few times and it is wonderful!
I bought an M39 Finn sneak a few years ago from a fellow Files member and the first shot was dead money on the nose. I have had FALs turn out pretty well once I figured out how to index the barrels correctly. Just showing up first shot on an 18 paper target I am happy then with a little here and there good to go.
You need to go buy a lottery ticket.

I live alone in the middle of nowhere with two dogs and a cat, what do you think about that.

The wind blows, the rain falls, the flag snaps its bravery in the dark as two dogs boil for attention at my feet.

Of course it is a true story. You just couldn't make up something like that, no way.

I have barreled a lot of rifles over the last 50+ years and never had one come this close. This was with front sight centered, rear sight centered and bottomed out. The x on and SR-1 at 100 was up 8 and right 2 with a 6 oclock hold.
I do love these M14 type rifles.

Who says we don't get better as we age!
Just messing with ya Art; impressive building skills on display and a good shootin' eye too! Hell, I'm amazed when I can get a scope level...

Stock options

Not the kind that make one money, the kind that cost some.

Been having a ball with different configurations of the M14 type rifle for many years. This Winter has been no exception.
Accuracy wise I have really enjoyed the JAE offerings, none in this photo.
For just plain fun, I think that USGI stocks are pretty hard to beat.
Recently I have been barreling up a few rifles with Bula 19.5 med weight NM barrels and love that option.
One of my favorite features of the M14 is that a stock or barrel change only takes a short time. Not much difference than changing the tires on your automobile. Pick the tires for what you want to do with your vehicle and likewise chose a stock and barrel for an application.

These are my current project rifles. Two fiberglass stocks on the left are waiting on a decision to be made on what color paint will be used.Whatta hobby!
