Where can I find M14 parts kits??

Subject line says it all, I'm looking to buy a kit or 2, are they out there?

And what can I expect to pay for one? Thanks in advance, Mick/NSS

Complete USGI kits are unobtainium
Check with Windy City or treeline and LRB Re the ones I can think of without looking
You will get about a grand in one
On the TFL forum there is tonyben and Ted Brown selling Bula parts

Toolman203 on 1919a4 has some nice kits he post them on GB now and then. Like everything he sells they are excellent. IIRC they are close to $2k and worth every cent. If you are serious send me an email via FALFILES and give me your email and I will put you in direct contact.

I just spoke to Toolman for you. $1700 starting. SA, H&R, Win. Mostly NOS parts. He’s down to a handful now.

Bula is a fine rifle at a fair price.

There was a run from DuPage Trading around the end of last year. USGI kits minus barrel and receiver for $400 first batch, $500 second batch. Rumored to have more coming but nothing I've seen in 2019.

I purchased one from the second batch and got an XM21 barreled action from Bula. All USGI parts in the kit. No NOS but all parts serviceable in mine. Most of the kit stocks were decent; some were outstanding figured birch. Mine went into a Sage EBR chassis.

Used up the last of my Dupage kits yesterday putting these together. These stocks came with the kits.
Bula barrels and bolts are fantastic.

Bula has complete kits available and are wonderful folks to work with.
No better people to deal with if you want a custom rifle built using their stuff.
For the match shooters, they also do bedding.

I'd contact DuPage Trading - https://www.dupagetrading.com/ - and ask. They've had the least expensive ones I've seen in recent years.

Thank you Sir.

Fulton advertises a complete USGI parts kit, less the receiver for $1,500+. You can substitute a new Criterion barrel for no additional cost. If you have them assemble it on their receiver, you'll have to pay Federal Excise Tax for a complete rifle. Seems pretty spendy to me.

Wow! USGI kits are that high? Who'da thunk it? The Master told me that back in the early 1970's, he KNEW M-14 civilian receivers would be on the market soon when the price of M-14 bolts moved from $2, yes, that's $2, up to $7. He had so many USGI parts that in the beginning the Reese brothers wanted him to sell them some. He asked them to sell him receivers but they refused, so he did also. Months later, their receivers hit the market. I saw where he used to keep some of his parts full-up in dresser drawers. It was amazing.

When he, passed in October of 2016, his step-grandson was the sole inheritor of all his guns, parts and tooling. It's all dispersed now. The Master did help me put together my (3) remaining kits. I need parts like a front band and some small pieces, I don't remember exactly what. I' saving them for a Bula or two and and LRB, whenever that will happen; who knows.

Best place today is Bula. Parts are as good or better than USGI and less than a third the price some scalpers are asking , and getting from the unknowing.
There are some " collectors " out there that have driven the price of USGI parts into the stratosphere.
Every once in awhile some come on the market as with the Dupage sales recently. $400 for the first batch and 500 for the second. I believe that sort of price to be the norm today.
I do remember complete USGI kits NIW less receivers for under $200. But that was when the dinosaurs still came in for toenail clippings.

Dupage Trading

Anyone hearing if Dupage Trading is going to sell more M14 kits this year?

If I had to do it all over again, I would say to Hell with a parts kit and get NOTHING BUT QUALITY factory rifles, with FRESH factory parts, no cast junk - as much forged pieces as possible, assembled with a warranty, new barrel, new throat, no gobbed, ruined muzzle and crowns, fresh un-molested threading throughout, fresh gas system; then I'd polish the trigger, hammer and respective pins myself and then shoot it until Death do us part. Probably a Bula Forge or LRB. Or THE Ultimate, one of the rare, complete, USGI registered M-14s for around $30+K. LOLOLOL!!!

I spent YEARS, freaking DECADES hand picking parts, buying trash in the mail -oh yeah, they'll **** you and send you their useless, worn out shit, unknown hours on the phone and in lines at the post office - way before the netweb and literally tens of thousands of dollars trying to get the right military, combat worthy, safe, reliable, accurate within the limits of its design; service rifle.

The closest I got to one was my first semi-auto: a genuine German H&K 91 that had the ergonomics of a movie prop in a 1950's space horror film. That rifle was all the above requirements EXCEPT is was torture to shoot and operate. Good bye. Sold it to get a Seracuse import 50.00 FAL, my Second place winner, only to find out the receiver is cast. All (5)early (late 1970's to mid-1980's) S.A. of Geneseo rifles were problematic, loaded with cast junk and all of them had to be modified and parts replaced. I sold three of them and the other remaining pieces are only safe, reliable and more than combat-grade accurate because of meticulous (read -expensive), hand fitting by master gunsmiths who knew and loved the M1 and M-14. The other (5) pieces, although put together safely with ALL USGI parts are still parts guns that some times leave me with doubt. Not to mention the FAL "kits" that became rifles. Those are also hand-built/fitted by an expert gunsmith but are still parts guns.

In Third Place for "As Close A Service Rifle As Possible" is my bought from the consignment rack Polytech, which had a reputed "soft-bolt" , crappy flash-suppressor and rough as concrete sliding parts. It too needed massaging, time, energy and money to get right.

I still have (3) USGI kits left one or two for a Bula and one for an LRB. Since my local resident Master Gunsmith has gone to "The Great Armory In The Sky", I don't know who could put them right without risk of having them; swap parts, lose parts, ruin parts; ALL of which has happened before. There's a reason why I am a Certified Member of The M-14 Cult.

Holy Cow! I forgot to mention my sleeper, A 1943 production Winchester M-1 mixmaster that is closest to a real combat grade service rifle. It too is a parts gun, although revived by the DCM back in the day. I had The Master gauge everything in it and it turns out that back then when you could only by one M-1, the rifles they issued were supposed to be the same quality of a rifle issued to a US serviceman it terms of reliability, safety and accuracy. It is a great rifle, although perfectionados would poo-poo it.

Want to see some more "parts kit" fun? Step into the AR-15 and 10 comedy. FUG!!!

Rant on pause,

I'm not implying that parts kits are junk, it's just that the newer rifles seem like a better deal with LESS hassle. My kits still have most of the parts still "in the wrap" and if not in the wrap, with no scratches, dents, gobs, bends, marred distorted threads, rust, no bubba damage from application of improper tools or grinding.

I was just raging as I'm not feeling well and I'm tired of working with sick, out-of-service guns.

Can't shoot parts. Build something!
