Winter maintenance on a few of my M1s.

Just going over a few M1s this morning. Sleet and freezing rain outside so it's a great time to play.
Photo has one each IHC, SA and Winchester. Will get to the rest later.

Very nice.

I intend to broaden my M1 horizons this year.

Nice M1's and pith helmet. I have a issued one dated Aug. 29, 1944 that ranks right up there with a Herringbone cover.

I think you meant Sun Helmet. Limeys had pith helmets. These were meant to resemble the Brit's to a certain degree.
Anyhow, thanks. There is a US stamp inside this one, but no date as far as I can tell.

Nope, those are actually just spare stocks in various stages of BLO application. There are something like 8 or 10 in the shop at the moment.

Nice picture. Reminds me of the lone guys that would get dropped off on Pacific Islands to monitor Japanese movements during WWII. Do you have a hand crank generator for your wife and kids to work when you need juice for the radio.

We upgraded to gas when the last of the kids moved out 15 years ago.

Oh , don't worry , there are plenty of H&Rs in the herd.
Service grades and a few service grade specials in both SA and H&R.
Don't plan on running out anytime soon.
