Dog is cranky just now...

....despite being his birthday yesterday.... when Mrs Andy saw a small tail hanging out the side of his mouth she went and pried this little guy out of the slobber pool ....

Now that's a cute little critter. Are you going to add him to the family? I know that's what'd happen here if my missus had rescued him.

He's still got that round eyed look, no doubt from the "Jaws" encounter. Hell, so would I.

Thats a cute little critter..,looks like one of those 'honey licker' (?) types of tree dwellers. I have to say -aside from the obvious WTFJHTM wide eyed look- it appears to have no or minimal outwards signs of trauma.. I take it your dog is a hunter/retriever type that does not bite down on new' chew toys'?

Good man andy, saving the little guy/gal... please do confim what it is.

Yes...it is a baby Ringtail Possum. The dog is a Setter but he does not have a soft mouth at all, we figure this one was too small for him to get a good bite/shake on as he has killed several and EATEN one we know of.

mine was doing her best to drag an Armadillo out from under my daughters car this morning. I will let her out to chase and some times catch what ever critters are in the yard. It keeps her prey drive up so she is willing to hunt, and catch.

These ones are not so bad but the Brush Tail Possum that we also get here around the house can go off like a frog in a sock and have been known to tear up a dog's nose/face pretty well.

Humm, your possums are cuter than our's. Maybe the dog was just saving it for a little snack later.

Yes, the last time my dog tried to get a possum in my yard, and I'm trying to save the 15 pound little rat bastage terrier from the possum, the possum started climbing up my legs, all in the middle of the night so dark I cannot see anything.Their breath really stinks!

A video of that would have been pure Youtube gold.

Cranky dog

Until I read further down, I thought it was one of your Welshies.

Lined up for a new Welsh pup the end of September myself...
