LC 68 Match purchase
OK, so I went to a local show on Saturday. Only one vendor selling primers - only Wolf and out of large rifle. Also, only 1 selling any powder to speak of - I bought 8 lbs of Ramshot Big Game and Hunter for $100.00 each. Never used it before, but I load for enough different cartgs that for that price

Where the O6 loads in Lake City MATCH boxes? Bullet should be 173gr FMJBT and your powder should look like an IMR type powder, think 4895 or 4064 |

It doesn't really add-up that there would be 147-grain bullets in factory-loaded
Lake City Match 30-06 ammo. I am of the belief that all the factory-loaded Lake City Match 30-06 ammo was of the "M72" flavor, and used the 173-grain bullet. M72 was known to be loaded with IMR 4895 (or the bulk equivalent).

Yeah, that's what I was think after I got home. Oh, well, I got some good brass to add to my supply. They weren't in sealed 20 rd boxes. They were lose in 250 rd boxes.

I just broke one down. Powder looks just like the 4064 I have in my hopper. A charge of 48.5 gr. Bullet weighs 147.6. I guess I bought a bunch of somebody's reloads. I guess I should have bought the HXP another vendor had. Pickin's were sure slim at this show, however.

My error. Not factory sealed boxes -- sealed boxes the size of a .30 cal ammo can. Hey, give me a break -- I'm having my 71st birthday soon and maybe not as discerning as I used to be.

Just so long as you don't put a bullpup stock, and a Tac-Light on your Garand, we won't begrudge ya.

HMMM, a bullpup Garand. Now that's an idea. Maybe I can find an honest vendor at a show here in the Springs next month that will sell me a stock (guaranteed to be an LC 68 original) - Those fake LC 68 Match loads I bought Saturday will probably run smoother if I keep the stock "stock". Now on the other hand one of my FAL's as a bullpup.....maybe with some stretched/reformed .300 savage brass...
