There's one at the local shop here in town for $1200.. tempting. I shot one at a range back in Minnesota and I liked it a lot.

I've actually thought .357 mag in a semi-auto handgun would be awesome for quite some time. I may just have to buy one of these eventually.

You should go over there immediately and thoroughly inspect the piece before the actual transfer.

Ah yes, the Coonan

Here's my pair of original Coonans; a Model B and a Cadet. I bought them last year from a local collector, new, in the boxes, never fired. It only took me a week or so to correct that deficiency...I've heard good reports about the new ones but nothing beats the originals!

The older Coonan's had a tab extending from the top of the chamber/barrel hood for reliability, helped guide the cartridge into the chamber. They had a habit of breaking off expectantly. First time, cost $125 to send my slide, barrel assembly to a gunsmith that had worked at the former Coonan company.

The second time it broke, It didn't matter because the modified magazines didn't require the tab.

Does your new model still have the guide tab or was it done away with?
Congratulations. Looking forward to a range report

NO that is another 1911 Holster I have, it actually won't be used as the front sight does have proper clearance....I have a Local Leather guy here going to make one for me from GATOR HIDE......as well as a COWHIDE one.......

Yes, it still has a TAB over the port/barrel extension...., BUT I am NOT sure if they have changed over the years or not......I will ask them about that tomorrow....

THANKS for the INFO...

Always a fan of anything 357mag. Saw and shot one a few years ago at the local range. Coonans are serious drool stuff! Congrats, and just a little jealous(much) LOL..

Could you post a photo for me?

Open the slide, with the magazine inserted, I'm interested in the throat and feed area...Any problems feeding rimmed cartridges?

Well I can't answer ANY feed issues yet, as soon as I received it I pretty much had to fly out of town, I am just getting back and will be able to answer more functionality questions very SOON!

Is this pic what you are looking for?
