Saturday Night Live

Quote:
(CNN)"Saturday Night Live" comedian Pete Davidson mocked the appearance of a congressional candidate whose eye was destroyed while he served in Afghanistan.

"This guy is kinda cool, Dan Crenshaw," Davidson said on this weekend's show, next to a photo of Crenshaw, a Republican. "You may be surprised to hear he's a congressional candidate from Texas, and not a hit man in a porno movie.
"I'm sorry, I know he lost his eye in war, or whatever," he added. "Whatever."

Quote:
Crenshaw appeared on Fox & Friends on Monday morning where he again commented on the skit.

“I have thick skin. In the SEAL teams, we poke fun at each other all the time. But I have certain rules for when my friends poke fun of me,” Crenshaw said. “It has to be original, it has to be witty, and it has to be actually funny. And this wasn’t funny.”

When I got out of the Army in 75 a short time later I was introduced to some weird ass show on Saturday night that was right before Monty Python. It had some samurai tailor, an Albanian hamburger guy, some leering news caster, some guy that would blend up a fish into liquid muck and then drink it, some gal name Jane that was an ignorant slut, some killer bees from south of the border, the shark candygram, Emily Litella, some doped up Army recruiter.

It was crazy. They didn't have to delve into such tasteless, classless shit for a cheap laugh. Fuk powder boy.

I haven't watched SNL in many years. Never will again. Used to be ok, never great, except in the very beginning. Now it's junk.

I was a child when I first laughed at JANE YOU IGNORANT SLUT.

I took two minutes to write to Bud, nice polite short note. Their response -

I thought most people outgrew it by the end of the '70s.

...I don't watch it and I don't even drink Bud, but that's not the point.

I remember those early days of SNL and monty python well. Chevy Chase never did another funny thing after SNL. Turns out like most libs he was a bitter person.... karma. With the exception of John Belushi and Steve martin I can not think of any other full or part time cast member that ever did anything worthwhile after their run(s) on SNL. As funny as dan Akroyd was ...without Belushi he just didn't shine .
The chevy chase and Richard Pryor "interview" skit was probably the funniest skit that show ever did. I still chuckle when I think of it.
It's been 20 + years since I've taken the time to watch that show and it was a let down then and more so now with these unhuman looking scumbags like powder puff boy whatshisface.

SNL has gone thru many peaks and valleys IMO- it was golden in the 1990s and very early 2000s and has always dabbled in political humor, but these days it canít ever get away from political humor, the writers simply arenít funny, regardless of political opinions of some of the cast.

Crenshaw handled the situation with humor and class. Forgave people who apologized and were trying to make amends. That is a leader.
