Don't go to Chicago

Quote:
Sources say the officers were first caught with child pornography, but as Internal Affairs investigators looked further into the case, they uncovered additional evidence the officers had been using some online web pages to advertise the girl, or girls, for prostitution.

The alleged pimping activities were being conducted while the officers were off-duty, according to a police source.

Did you actually read the Homan square article. Access to attorney is better there than in Chi town.

"The 68 documented attorney visits are actually slightly higher, statistically speaking, than the extremely minimal legal access Chicago police provide suspects in custody during the initial stages of their arrest. The 2014 citywide total at declared police stations, according to First Defense Legal Aid, was 0.3%."

I wouldn't...always surprised that city is still standing. Always expecting some corporation to just buy it and level it already.

Well, at least for once he isn't blaming "lax gun laws" for the homicide rate, but don't worry, I'm sure he will correct that little oversight.

If they could just ban guns and cell phones, I'm sure it would be the safest city in the world...........

I lived there for a couple years back in the late '70s, and it was a cesspool of blatant corruption even then.

Chicago is long overdue for another good fire.

Heard an interesting gun topic on NPR this morning while driving into the city for work ... Chicago Police Chief or Commisioner was commiserating that the gang shootings in Chicagostan don't turn up dumped weapons and they were puzzled as to why since the penalty for finding the smoking gun on a person is pretty high. After some investigating they discovered that the penalty for losing their gun was much stricter from the gang leadership and they feared that penalty much more than the legal penalty.

Good to see some discipline instilled in the troops. The success of any organization lay in its' management.

https://www.chicagohs.org/history/capone.html

Al Capone is America's best known gangster and the single greatest symbol of the collapse of law and order in the United States during the 1920s Prohibition era. Capone had a leading role in the illegal activities that lent Chicago its reputation as a lawless city.

Don't go to Chicago? Thanks for the heads-up brother but I wasn't planning on it. We have enough crime, corruption and stupidity of our own here in New Orleans. I only go into the city if I have been supoena-ed.

Kind of what I'm afraid of...I work for a gas company that services 5 different states... Can tell you right now, I'm afraid to see what would happen when these people lose energy assistance and the ability to not have to pay regular prices for heat and electric.( and I'm talking ppl who pay near to nothing all year if they choose to pay)

Itd basically be "Fookin Prawns" time.

I was born in Bloomington & spent a lot of time in Chicago going to the Field Museum & other places. Just visited Illinois last summer. Walked in some nice burros in Chicago late at night with my sister & her husband...very nice.

Then visited south back to my old home town of Arrowsmith as well as Manhattan, Funks Gove & Normal Illinois, all beautiful. Rolling roads & corn fields that have not changed since I was a kid.

I raised the ire of my family (I've been forgiven) by refusing to attend my kid sister's wedding in downtown Windy City a few years ago.
Wasn't going if they paid me.
Maybe I'm getting curmudgeonly?

Hell no I'm not not going to Chicago...

Technically in Lombard, but close enough

Chicago proper

And while I'm there, I'll probably stop back to Woolly Mammoth Antiques. For those that can't handle teh gays, it's in Andersonville, so don't say I didn't warn you

Taste of Lebanon is right next door to the Woolly Mammoth, and is worth the stop

I don't know - I could go back up north for the Maxwell Street Market (not on Maxwell Street, btw) for some good tacos, but the main reason for visiting would be Joy Yee Noodle in Chinatown.

They also robbed and beat up University of Chicago students as well, something not mentioned in the linked article.

Quote:
CHICAGO (CBS) — Large groups of teenagers and young adults created chaos in Hyde Park on Halloween, vandalizing dozens of cars, harassing people attending a holiday street festival, and robbing University of Chicago students.

Witnesses said, around 9:30 p.m., more than 100 young people walked down at least three blocks in Hyde Park, yelling as they smashed windshields, broke mirrors, lit off fireworks, and jumped on cars on stretches of Kimbark, Kenwood, and Ridgewood. At least 18 cars were damaged on the 5400 block of South Ridgewood alone.

“I saw them jump on my car, and jump on just a whole bunch of other people’s cars as well. So it was like I wanted to do something, but it was like there is like 200 of them, so I’m going to just kind of chill,” said Nicholas Behzadi, whose car was one of those damaged.

Behzadi said he has footprints on the roof of his car, which has a broken windshield and dented hood.

Witnesses said some in the crowd took selfies as they went down the street. The group was so large, residents felt like they couldn’t do anything, and just had to stand by and watch as their property was damaged.

Police said a 55-year-old man was beaten after he came out near 54th and Kimbark to try to defend his vehicle. He drove himself to the hospital.

It was a loud and destructive scene, some of which was caught on cell phone video by people living nearby, who complained that police were not doing enough to stop the vandals.

“We saw a group of about 200 kids walking this way, with about 10 police officers in cars, with about another 15 on bikes, just sitting there watching them,” witness Joe Dadan said. “They came down our street, walked on cars, smashed windows, smashed roofs, hoods. They actually broke a window in a car, threw an explosive device in there.”

depends...

Asshole gets plowed into the pavement during an attempted carjacking often no charges are filed. That happens a number of times a year

Try on those two guys that rolled over water protectors in Reno a couple years ago
Dirtbags started swing fists through open windows with a hippie bitch blocking them at the front bumper. Driver went right over her
Guess who went to jail ?
The anarchists for assault.

Seem to recall bitch ended up with a crushed pelvis and other broken up bones

again it's a situational call
car jackings were so bad in the late 80s around Minneapolis that Cops actually went to TV telling folks not to stop if some ass jumped in front of your car, report the impact.

Back then I hammered a couple shitbirds
didn't report it either, called it in to insurance as a Deer strike.
not worth getting shot dead or the potential of legal drama.

Premeditating poopery to go with your wholesale slaughterfest

Quote:
The Chicago Transit Authority has disciplined three bus drivers who were caught relieving themselves on their routes in the past few years, according to CTA records obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times.

In one bizarre, on-duty incident in September, a driver defecated on his bus after pulling over — busted by onboard surveillance camera footage.

The driver told his bosses he couldn’t hold it because he’d eaten “bad tacos.” CTA officials didn’t buy his story, according to a transit source who says the incident appeared to be “premeditated.” The agency initiated termination proceedings.

Went back to visit my dad in the late 90s. Took my daughters to the Science and Industry Museum. I thought they should see what a "bad neighborhood" looks like. They were told that at no time would the car stop with anyone or anything in front. I meant it. As usual I had an illegal (for Ill.) .357 and my dad's Town Car with tinted windows. Both, good things in that neighborhood. Just a couple miles from the Dan Ryan to the museum, but they understood, after, why the precautions. I summed it up, telling them that, if they were ever to find themselves in a similar place to simply turn around and go back the way they came. In some cities going deeper is suicidal.
St. Louis is bad too, but E. St. Louis Ill. is worse.

Isn't OHAMABAMA's shrine going to be built in Chicago ?
Police escorts to get there, and body armor issued at the parking lot !

Wasn't Chicago part of HIS experimental doing ?

Use to go to Chicago every year for 4-5 days. The wife always went to the huge Food Show (food sample city !) at the McCormick Center.
She was an Executive Chef, I'd take a few days off work and be the sample eating, baggage dragging spouse.
Stay at a nice hotel downtown, eat at many of the great restaurants, etc.
Ain't going there now ! !

Homan Square is a neighborhood in Chicago, So...

Just go down Homan Ave.

Better yet, don't.

When I saw this part ~
"Homan Square revealed: how Chicago police 'disappeared' 7,000 people",
I thought maybe that's why Chicago doesn't have the homeless problem like Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco.

To think the "Homan Square" site (call it by its proper, more blighted name: North Lawndale) was once the HQ and warehouse of Sears, Roebuck & Company.

Born and raised in Chicago and the last time I visited was last year to move my sister and her kids to Utah. The last time before that was for my uncle and mother's funerals in 2012 and 2013.

The only thing I miss about Chicago is the Puerto Rican food. There are no Puerto Rican restaurants here in Utah. Mexican food is OK but not the same.

We have enough Mexicans here in Utah courtesy of the LDS Church and it’s sanctuary policies. Mexican food is not the same as Puerto Rican food. Doesn’t even come close for me.
