18" zero advice
I have two 18" FAL's. What should the POA and POI be at 25yrds be.
Have looked through the FAQ's and did not find an answer.Have not been to the range yet. Experimenting gets expensive. Anybody know? Thanks in advance.

Sight pretty much any high powered rifle at 25 yards to give you a reasonable point-blank zone for aiming.

Found this by who I think is our on THR.
http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/i.../t-381841.html Im sure something can be found here search using google with this link, copy and paste everything within the quotes. "SITE:http://www.falfiles.com/forums/ FAL FRONT SIGHT HEIGHT DOTS" Bwana John July 31, 2008, 11:55 AM I posted this to the same question a while ago. For more info search "FAL dot sight" OK, Here’s what I came up with. Measured total height of sight top to bottom. 2 dot- .596" 3 dot- .628" 4 dot- .652" HOWEVER!- I also have a 3 dot that is .575" but Im pretty sure its filed on. Here is the height of just the post. 2 dot- .159" 3 dot- .186" 4 dot- .214" |

Seems to be filed on. Not out of the question if it was shooting low with that barrel

Thanks NFADLR.Think I will keep that info. I have a gun club range, less
than ten miles from the house. By the time the remodel is done will be able to shoot out to 500yds. Should be fun.

Rifle, 7.62mm L1A1 Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Instructions Standards, Issue 3, August 1992: from a mechanical rest, 4 out of 5 rounds fall in a circle 50mm (2.0") diameter for rifles in the field or 38mm (1.5") diameter for depot/new rifles. Point of impact 13mm (0.5") below and 13mm left or right of point of aim. Point of aim is a one inch square centered on the top portion of the 1.5 or 2 inch circle (not above, not below - centered). This will 'index' your rear sight ramp, if that makes sense.

Not uncommon for hacked-barrel FAL to need nubbin front sight.
Put a front sight you can actually see on it. Adjust rear sight.

Unless you are doping target loads, forget the higher mathematics.
w/ 146-150gr fmj NATO 7.62x51- Battle sight zero for FAL w/ ramp rear sight or G-3 : Set rear sight @ 2 (200m)- POI=POA @ 30m. To hit man size targets at 300-400-500-600m, adjust rear sight to 3-4-5-6 accordingly. FAL w/ 250m Para rear sight and the M-14/M1A use a 250m battle sight zero: POI is 4.6cm higher then POA @25m.
