My US made parts are junk!

Junk I tellya!

I should've tried to fit them up when I bought them years ago. I think I can get the trigger sear to fit and probably work ok...the hammer is crap and crooked..hole too small...strut notch too skinny!!.....the gas piston is a bunch too long...probably could be made to work.

Four parts turn into two parts(that I don't trust)...I bought this stuff so long ago I don't even recall where I got it(I think Century)! Does anybody even have inch pattern trigger groups(HTS) anymore??

There! I feel better...I bitched about it in public...and not in front of my wife

Which brand are they? DSA? FSE? Falcon?

I too noticed a lot of 922r parts have that arrogant smell of "I am the only game in town so you have to buy whatever crap I sell!" I have a pistol grip whose two pieces are so offset you can clean your fingers on the mould line. And, let's not talk about the Century buttstocks.

Do your parts HAVE to be U.S. made? If not, i have Common-Wealth hammers, triggers and sears.

I think the problem is the 922r availability for L1A1; it is not as nice as the metric one. Here is my optimistic cheat sheet:

Code:
      922r L1A1 (17 parts total? If so, need 7)
        + US Made
        x Have
      + [ ] Receiver
      + [ ] Barrel
            - Apex sold them before
            - Need shims
https://dsarms.com/p-16656-pri-58-id...e-devices.aspx
      - [ ] Muzzle attachment/break/flash hider
      - [ ] Bolt
      - [ ] Bolt carrier
      + [ ] Piston (Same as metric)
      + [ ] Operating rod/charging handle
https://www.dsarms.com/p-13040-dsa-f...g-and-pin.aspx
      - [ ] Trigger housing (Bubba calls it lower receiver because AR)
      - [ ] Trigger (not interchageable with metric)
+ [ ] Hammer (not interchageable with metric)
             - Hard to find
+ [ ] Sear (not interchageable with metric)
             - Hard to find
      + [ ] Buttstock
      + [ ] Pistol grip
      + [ ] Handguard
      - [ ] Magazine body
+ [ ] Magazine follower (interchangeable with metric)
      - [ ] Magazine floorplate

for some reason...I think this 'stuff' came from Century Arms. Whether they made them or not I have no clue. No markings on the parts. I say Century mainly because at one point I had bought a Century receiver to build this rifle.

That obviously cast and out of spec receiver did not please me. I traded it off to a fellow who was simply desperate for an inch receiver. I showed him what it needed to work and he made it work! He did say later that it needed a lot of effort to get it serviceable. I bought the receiver and the parts from the same supplier...my first serious attempt to build the SLR

I looked the hammer over to see if it can be salvaged....it's the hole that's crooked plus under-size. If...I say if I can ream the hammer hole straight and not be over-size or in the wrong place...it may work. I think my best bet is to simply fit my 'new' trigger/sear to my original hammer. I'm still debating the debacle...

Are you determined to use U.S. made fire control parts? I ask as, surplus parts are in spec and cost effective.

I put the original parts back in for the time being...pending a plan B. Still lacking a locking shoulder anyhow.

I don't think in Okieland that the 922 police will be busting open your rifle to find out. Fugggetaboutit and move on.

As I recall, the Century Inch hammers and triggers of 15 or so years ago were marked with a C in a circle.
I don't think they ever offered sears.

Not great stuff but more durable than the FSE versions were.
I had two of their Inch hammers mushrooming out on their faces.
Disappointing.

Would probably be ok with that if it was just me...but it's a father/son project and who knows how Draconian things may get in the future.

That and 4 black helicopters flew over yesterday...but only two came back! Saw a black Tahoe too...drove slowly in front of my house and pretended to go to a yard sale next door!

I may actually have a line on some parts....whined and bitched to a friend who whined to another friend who thinks he has what I need! We shall see

No triggers. Just hammers & Sears. And just the C, no circle. And the sears were low carbon - didn't park well.

3 US parts, can be Flypaper stock hg and pistol grip, or DSA thermoplastic replicas.

DSA mag bottom is 4.
Coonan/DSA receiver is then 5.
Gas piston from GP makes 6, and Mountainman or tapco charging handle makes 7. US flashider makes 8.

Original fire control parts can then remain, and work properly.

I'm not so sure my wonky after market hammer might be metric...the trigger and sear work with my 'B 60' hammer with some minor fitting...trigger pull ain't great tho

I am going to work on the deal some more

That gas piston may very well be Israeli, or otherwise a repro for the same application

Remind me again how many people have gone to jail/had legal issues/gotten a ticket/received a stern warning/had it mentioned somewhere by a cop for 922r BS?

Put the right stuff in. Even in a draconian future the issue will be your gun, not what is stamped on the parts that make it function.

Joking aside (pushing the usual suspects' big red button... way too easy), I recall a bunch of Century "seconds" parts getting dumped on the market for cheap around 10-15 years ago? People were scarfing them up for cheap, but the novelty wore off quick as parts proved to be out of spec and/or improperly heat treated.
