So, you stuck your foot in the water and that thing just floated to the surface?
Way to use your resources. Nice fish.

nice

Only time I had a Wahoo hooked was trolling over the top of the reef off Nassau

FISH ON !!!!

set the hook for a 20 second fight, lost the fish to a black tipped reef shark

it hit on the biggest rod-reel combo & I tried to fold the rod over double

Capt. saw it from up on the flying bridge, said it was a beautiful jump

he saw the shark go for it, it turned towards the boat and hit the afterburners

fish off .........

reeled in the line so the mate could re-rig,

the teaser was forced up over the swivel between the line & piano wire leader

mate held it up for the Capt to see, he looked at it then the Capt

I said whats wrong ?

mate sez; "Mon, only da really big fish do dis"

I said; "so I just may have lost a record book fish?"

mate sez; yea mon

Nice fish and some great eating! A little trick an Old English Salt told me - for fine meat and taste thereof, before gutting - Salt the fish entirely with Salt! Scrub with a cloth, so that any Slime is removed, along with the salt - wash salt and residue away, with a clean blade gut and dress. The slime doesn't contaminate the meat, and the true flavour of the meat will be better preserved! Old Salt's tale or valid - you decide!

Wahoo are named right , hook one and you'll holler WAHOO!
Since you didn't hookup the Wahoo, Bonita or Sailfish in the deep blue waters of the Kentucky Ocean ,
whereabouts did you catch them ?

Went out with friends from North Palm Beach about 6am yesterday to about 5 miles offshore. Drifted North with the wind and tide up a bit above Jupiter inlet in the afternoon, then came back home via the inland waterway.

We were kite fishing BTW which was a whole new expereince for me, but I highly recommend it.

We were on their 34' fishing boat with twin 300HP outboards, which is dang near perfect for this type of fishing IMHO. We were in 4' seas all day with occasional rouge waves of 8' plus. The boat rode it out well, as (surprisingly) did Blondzilla who is not too fond of rough water

The wife has some nice video of me fighting a sailfish on her IPhone with some nice jumps out of the water. For now, she can't figure out how to capture a still shot from the video and will probably have to wait until she can get home and let the grandkids do it for her

Run the video to the desire still. That take a screen shot (hold down the power and the home key simultaneously, you'll hear a shutter click). The pic will save to your camera roll. Then email or text it where needed.

Your story brings back good memories. Back in the day we used to go to the middle keys for lobster season. We'd dive for lobster at night and fish the deep water all day; sailfish, dolphin, wahoo, etc. Those were the days. Too damn old now.

Wahoo- what a fish! I'll be down fishing out of Sebastian Inlet next month...between your pic and the snow outside of my door here in Virginia I can't wait to get down there.

You failed to read the rulebook, photos of the rifle known as FAL's, pics of the rifle shall include feet or foot if the poster only has one or has a feet exemption and ones favorite adult beverage.

The accused offender did not post a picture of a FAL'S rifle hence he isn't required to post his favorite adult beverage in said photograph.

Read the rulebook, next time and stop wasting the committee's time.

CT Yankee trick for making bluefish tasty. Bleed out and gut immediately, drop in a cooler with seawater and plenty o’ crushed ice.

As for that toe...folks would freak if they saw my deformed feet. Maybe I should post a pic...naw, nobody should have to see that!

My dad was a big fisherman, loved it and other than church about the only thing he would miss work to do when I was growing up. Had a bass boat, aluminum John Boat for farm ponds and captains near Daytona, Steinhatchee and Merle's inlet phone numbers memorized. He never really got into trout fishing in the great rivers and streams of north Georgia and western North Carolina but a friend took him Tarpon fishing with fly rods down somewhere near the keys and he was absolutely hooked for several years.

First he hired guides, learned the equipment, practiced his cast relentlessly then began learning how to get them from the initial hit into his net or boat the only way you can. Spend lots of time and loose a lot of fish as Tarpon on a fly rod apparently are super challenging. He said they would jump and spin to twist the line then hopefully snap it when landed and loaded it hard. Said for every decent hook set would have half a dozen throw his fly before able to even get a fight. Remember his goal was to boat a fifty pound Tarpon on a fly rod and when he finally did never went back.

Was many a day he would pick me up at school for family emergency with boat hooked to truck. If got a call king mackerel were running car was packed and the entire family went. He took a chair and mom, brother and myself would take turns on the other. He would be sure our boat was first out and last in then sit on a reel all day. Good times growing up but have only been salt water fishing twice in 25 years. Enjoy it but with cost of an off shore trolling lease at $600 to $800 per day rather put a rifle in the vault. Nice fish, am jealous, you can keep that ugly foot, mine has so much titanium figure may as well keep it and if get in bind for cash can scrap my left leg.
