Just a few months ago they had this same ammo for $99.99, then about 1-2 months ago for $125, now they want $173, can't wait to see how much they'll be asking in November...........

I'm back to buying commercial reloads: just paid $0.45/rd. for once-fired Lake City and Federal loaded with surp 147 grainers. Loaded by Tactical Ammo here in Oregon, or by BVAC in Montana.

It ain't pretty, but it is cheaper than the rest. Not one ammo vendor had the PPU 150 gr ammo that I bought recently for $0.50/rd. - that's what I really wanted...

Today I saw advertised -"400rds. of 7.62x54R(308)-$120"-that is 30 cents per round I figured. It read x54r so Emailed the advertiser,he replied shortly after and stated that it was definitely x51 and made in Venezuela,to which i told him it was CAVIM. thinking it a good deal, told him I would take it but could not meet until after 3p.m.
Drove to the meeting place and was glad about getting a good deal. I opened one box and it is super clean with 1990 date . I went home and started doing some research on my acquisition. Found that DSA states on their website "do not use CAVIM and several others due to Receivers may be susceptible to HIGH PRESSURES. I also read that some have shot CAVIM in their DSA FAL. Now feel i should not shoot it in mine.

He also had a SPAM can of 520 rds. Ball 7.62x51 for 30cents per rd. also with a 64 stamped on can, some research stated Aussie and even Taiwan, is IT any good for my DSA? I have a feeling I should not get it.
May have to trade off the CAVIM.

A couple of months ago, J&G was offerning 250 round cans of POF, linked .308 for $90/can. It was 36 cents/round before shipping. I bought 4 cans. Have shot one. I don't know why they jacked their prices up so quickly - maybe this stuff is better?

I got the spam can and it is Chinese,not corroded steel cased copper washed.
30 cents per round,about as cheap as can be had to shoot at the range.

I bought a case of that, and wasn't real happy with it. It was cheap enough, but the brass was so dirty I had to tumble it before I shot it. It wasn't corroded like the port was, but when you felt the rounds there was a grit to them, and loading 20 rounds made BLACK fingers. It wasn't particularly accurate, and it was definitely corrosive...

I've always wondered why that ammo was so nasty....cosmetically and functionally garbage.
Even chicom knockoff 7.62X51 functions and looks twice as good.
